http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/stor...firm-to-build-clark-subic-bullet-train-as-ppp As a Filipina friend of mine remarks: "How was it that in just one hundred days, this project was presented and bidded out, with detailed technical proposals submitted and reviewed by a panel of experts before final selection of the firm that would carry it out? UNLESS, of course, the whole complex process involving transparency, professional review and due diligence was totally scrapped. This could be a return to the crony capitalism of Marcos' time. And at least Marcos chose fellow Filipinos to be his cronies."
The project will apparently be signed up during Dirty's visit to the People's Republic. Talking of which...
The Ambassador's maths needs some brushing-up. Look at the chart in that link and you'll find two entries for the UK: one for $122,743,593 and the other (from DEC) for $38,520,357. That makes a total UK donation of $161,263,950, which is 18.64% of the total. Or maybe the Ambassador doesn't count the money donated by thousands of ordinary citizens who responded to the DEC appeals but only money provisioned by the government (which came from ordinary citizens as well). Prat.
Does anyone think that DU30 and China would be able to stay friends long enough to build a high speed rail link?
What is the point of this rail link in the first place? The new motorway makes the journey possible in about an hour. I'd suggest the money is better spent elsewhere which in all likelyhood it already has been. I don't understand why he's aligning himself with russia and china either?
They started building a rail link years ago, I worked in Makati 2008-11 during that time people were evicted from homes in Angeles on the path of the new rail line and also many concrete posts appeared beside the NLEX apparently it was the route of the proposed rail link. Didnt happen then and I doubt it will happen now,
