...is so pathetic this year. Whats on ITV2? Why its one of the Bourne films. That was on last week, and 3 weeks previous to that. As Bruce Springsteen said in one of his songs '57 Channels and Nothing on".

Scrolling through the whole of Sky TV I can't find a damn thing that I have any interest in not even on the Discovery and Nat Geo channels.

I've actually had the TV switched off for a few weeks until the other day, mostly been watching stuff on Netflix and Amazon.

Well last night I searched and watched (unfortunately not in HD) all 2 hours 15 minutes of 2001 A Space Odyssey. I had only watched it half way in a few times before but watched it completely last night and very glad i did. Althought picture quality wasnt excellent, sound quality was through the soundbar.

It was on at FACT in Liverpool last year, I went to see it again on the big screen, as impressive now as it was when I first watched it at the ABC in Glasgow in 1969 with my parents, who both fell asleep that first time :)

The first of only a few movies ever that qualify as genuine sci-fi although in many ways 2001 was a really about the extension of science into faith and about what it is to be human and self aware.

    Stunningly executed by Kubrick.

I measure all movies against 2001 in terms of technical accuracy, and not many come close.

2001 was about as close to technically perfect as you can get while still on this planet, and for the time given they were using mattes it was impressive, it can be done better digitally today but they still always get too much completely wrong in modern movies.

From a purely enjoyment level rather than technically accuracy as such are for me films like Matrix and Terminator that are interesting to watch.

Oh I enjoy loads of films, all genres, quite willing to suspend disbelief for most of them, but part of me will objectively assess it afterwards :)

I bought my wife Google TV as an Xmas present, she can watch Filipino channels until her heart is content but she chooses, instead, to watch Miss Universe over and over again!

I have been channel hopping all the time, and there is absolutely nothing worth wasting time on.
And for some strange reason, my posh set top box, is playing up, and don't get the signal. So even Netflix is out of the equation...
