I am neither a believer nor a church-goer however a few days ago I did visit the church of saints Cyril and Methodius in prague,or more accurately the prayer loft and the cryp. Both were last-stands for the Czech british trained paratroopers who assassinated Reinhard Heidrich AKA the butcher of prague in 1942.The operation to kill Heindrich can be seen in the movies Operation Daybreak and Anthropoid, both fairly accurate films, the crypt is untouched, left as was,you can see the window ledge pock-marked with bullet holes, the attempted escape tunnel, lots of memorabilia from the final hours, well worth a visit if your in eastern Europe and have a few days to spare.I also found a filipino restaurant opposite the church of our lady victorious, the resto is called P.noy,i resisted the temptation to eat there
Hi. Thanks for this info. I'll be in Prague next week and will surely try and visit this church.. and the restaurant!
Few tips for you Florge,i don't know if you have ever been to prague in the past,if you have you will be aware of them already,i have been quite a few times, great city.Charles bridge, picture postcard perfect BUT get there at around 7.30am for photographs,at 7.30am your going to be alone there, well worth the effort, ifyou turn up there at 2pm for example its like being in Beijing,wall-to-wall Chinese all trying to get a Charles bridge selfie. Also go to the top of the Dancing House for a really good photo across the river and if your feeling particularly energetic, you get beautiful pics of the city from the top of the bell tower round the side of st vitus cathedral, its the largest church in prague, but your going to have to walk up all of those steps to get the view
Don't forget, get there early, the bridge will be deserted, get there late and its wall to wall with Chinese.
