Never met you and don’t know what part of the UK you live.

Max you are right I am often lurking in the shadows, I put input to questions if I know the correct answer without taking guesses at the answer, I don’t repeatedly give same answer as already given. I don’t get into arguments, talk politics or usually make a point to have a go ir correct someone else’s post unless I know the post is wrong.
I made the comment I did because of the repeated attacks towards the visa system not working correctly or quick enough for UKDJ on so many other posts he has commented on this forum. I don’t believe the repeated attacks on the Ukvi is helpful especially to someone who only asked for advice on a specific question.

I submitted my application on the basis of keeping things simple.

I just sent 7 months of payslips (to be on the safe side) which also showed my annual salary.

No work contract, no cover letter from my employer, no P60.

Maybe not recommended, but I put a .com instead of .co.uk in the email address as I wanted my employer to have no involvement in this process in the unlikely event that UKVI wanted to contact them.

I've read many threads by the OP now, and it does seem be over complicating so many things. I know this is a very expensive, very stressful and very critical application and it is important to cover all your bases. However, you also need to consider that if your circumstances are already sufficient (not falling into any grey areas) then piling on bucketloads of more evidence is probably not going to make any difference other than adding to the workload of the deciding officer.

He's given plenty of positive advice now and in the past.

Regards contempt for the system, well, really, you need to ask, it deserves contempt, rhetorical question I don't expect a reply.

You always struck me as a pretty reasonable individual until this post.

    Maybe I am blind?

What in this thread draws you to respond to this member in this way?

Seriously what did this member say in context to YOU in this thread that results in YOUR response above?

I disagree with the sentence I have highlighted, I also happen to disagree with most of what you say most of the time but that is another matter.

I agree keep it simple there is however now a checklist at the end of an electronic application, not sure about the manual form of mandatory documents you must provide and a p60 and letter from your employer is on that list.
They are clesrly tightening up the process!

Me and the reply button apolls! I was replying to an insuation on a previous post by another member who commented on the reply above so the target member understood the response!
Just for clarity i was not addressing @Stupot10 they were rhetorical questions.

My experience on this is just a few months old, and the visa you applying for is different to the initial 6 month settlement visa the OP is chasing.

If the checklist for this visa has changed to now include letters from your employer and more, then of course you need to include them and ignore Internet know-it-alls. If not, then I would be hesitant to go above and beyond unless you fall in a grey area such as relying on 2 jobs or temporary contracts.

On another thread (cant think which one) last weekend I did copy the checklist to @thingymejig2 with the caveat that my applocation was for 2nd FLR June this year and that he should check and adhere to the checklist produced at the end of his electronic application.
I would always advocate using what the system asks for rather than interpretations by forum know it alls.
I do think however that a letter from the employer will now be an ever present requests as without it as another members has today found to his cost it can give grounds for refusal.
Keep it simple keep it acurate and in date and you wont go far wrong.

For the record, I didn't read UKDJ's response as being unnecessarily negative or anything like that. He answered my query, which happened to be inline with my own opinion, so it was reassuring and appreciated.

I don't mind if people want to throw in their own positive or negative opinion on the subject at hand. I can read between the lines, as I'm sure many other OPs can, and am very thankful for anyone who takes the time to offer their help :)

Can I just check something else on this topic...

Does the HR letter need to list, or refer to, the accompanying salary slips?

Is it advised to have them itemised on the HR letter, e.g.: by date and gross pay?

Mine didnt refer to the payslips just confirmed financial year end salary. Start date, job title permanent full time.
Thats it nothing elaborate or complicated plain facts.

Nope. The hr letter /employment cert listed :
    - full name
    -date of birth
    - start employment date
    - current position
    - current annual gross salary

It was just a one paragraph thing signed and then stamped.

The payslip was downloaded from the company portal - without any stamp from HR.
