"What we should have learned from 2011 is that when protesters are asking a valid question, it’s no good scolding them for not having all the answers, or even for personal hypocrisy. It may not look good for Emma Thompson to pitch up at Oxford Circus in solidarity with climate change protesters shortly after flying in from California, where she was appearing on a chat show. But in the broad scheme of things, so what? Climate change is an existential threat, and the response to it doesn’t currently feel urgent enough. So long as they keep hammering those two essentially inarguable points, Extinction Rebellion is going to resonate, not just with woke teenagers but increasingly with older people loath to bequeath their grandchildren a fried planet."

The issue that is unfortunately avoided by everyone, but not by Attenborough, is population control. Something that religion can hold its head in shame about.

For once, the Guardian are correct. What we like to do in the UK is avoid the issue, so things like Brexit never get solved because we are too busy shooting the messengers, and all the while, the problem persists. Same for climate change, you can mud sling all you like, but the problem is still there, and it is a BIG problem.

I'd say we can all do our bit, little things like, do we need to really drive 500 yards to the corner shop or garage? Wonder why we are a nation of fatties?

Looking back, I do not think Extinction Rebellion have achieved anything. Its mainly due to the right wing mainstream media making it about the demonstrators rather than the cause.

Which was my point. What you have seen is what the media have presented. The impression hyou have is what they wanted you to have. The likes of Julia Hartley Brewer et al has been full tilt using social media to attack the police for not arresting enough of them etc. In the end, the protest has actually been a failure.

The question is though, does that mean there is no problem now and no problem coming in the future ?

Science needs real money to research anything in the real world..
The question is who pays them and why?

Catholicism and Islam I guess would be the main two. The Catholic teachings against condom use also helped the spread of disease especially AIDS in Africa... maybe that was the Catholic plan to balance the large families brought on by the lack of birth control although what we ended up with was thousands of orphans. Islam also prohibits the use of condoms as contraception.

No, in this case "business as usual" equates to capitalism. North Korea would undoubtedly provide a more welcoming environment for you and yours and there's a daily flight from Beijing.

Death of a trillion cuts..Or is it 2 Trillion?
12 years living on an island..The tide still goes out about the same distance it comes in.. Perhaps a bit more or a bit less than before?
I don`t know because I cannot notice the difference..
It`s probably because I am not a climate scientist that I cannot see the changes.
I must be missing something in the big picture.
