So Balot, you are already under FLR right?
You may apply for ILR 28 days before your qualifying period ends - (usually the qualifying period being 24 months living in UK)
Before you apply for ILR you need to have passed Life in UK test. (Some years ago, you only needed to pass this test for naturalisation, but the rules got changed ha!)

I would suggest that you prepare for Life in UK test asap and take the test. You can take the test as many times as you need, so no need to panic. Cost is about £35 I think.
There is no such thing as taking the test too early. You need time to read that book (Only specified chapters will be tested)

Also suggest that you take a look at the ILR form and guidance notes so that you can see exactly what supporting documents you need.

Now, after 12 months you may be eligible to apply for Naturalisation (British Citizenship)

Here's a tip Balot, review the form and guidance notes for Naturalisation. There are restrictions on absences from UK that stretch back 3 years for spouse (5 years for non-spouse)
Just make sure you know how to comply.

    Hope this un-confuses you.
    Any questions just ask away

Yes, my wife has been all through the process. She now has British Citizenship and is a British Passport holder (very useful for travelling around)
She is Dual Citizen - UK and Philippines.
When you take up British Citizenship you then need to re-acquire Philippine Citizenship and take the Philippine Oath etc. But no problem all very easy.

Hi Balot! You can take ur Life in UK test anytime coz you'll be needing it for applying ILR and also for citizenship... I took 'life in UK test' April 2010, and just got my ILR this February. You can apply ur ILR as early as 28 days before you are 2 years here in UK, since you were here 20th of Aug. 2010, then you can apply ILR 23rd of July 2012.

Regarding Citizenship/Naturalisation: as far as I know we can apply if we've been here in UK for exactly 3 years, you can't apply earlier than that even if it's just 1day early. Home office should receive ur application after 3 years you've been here if they receive it earlier than that then you'll be refuse. I've read a lil' bit about it and I didn't read anything about having 'life in uk test' after 12 months you received ur ILR. But it is indeed one of the requirements as well.

    Residential requirements

In order to demonstrate the residential requirements for naturalisation you need to:

    * have been resident in the United Kingdom for at least three years (this is known as the residential qualifying period); and
    * have been present in the United Kingdom three years before the date of your application; and
    * have not spent more than 270 days outside the United Kingdom during the three-year period; and
    * have not spend more than 90 days outside the United Kingdom in the last 12 months of the three-year period; and
    * have not been in breach of the immigration rules at any stage during the three-year period.
