Philippine passport translates middle name into panggitnang apelyido (middle surname).
whereas in UK, middle name is a second given name..

which is why im confused..in the Philippines, when you got married, you use your husband's last name
and your maiden last name will be your new middle name..

it's different in UK. with the wedding registration, i put my mother's maiden name as my middle name
because that's what in my passport.

now. my middle name is my mother's maiden name..so if i use my husband's last name, im disregarding
    my maiden last name..

should i continue using my mother's maiden name as my middle name then?

We were married in the Fils but the Missus already had her Passport

She changed her name when the passport needed renewal here in the UK and we noticed the same thing

Her married surname is same as mine but her middle name is now her fathers surname rather than her Mothers which it was before so for some interactions here she uses her Birth Certificate , Her Old Passport and the Newer one that is now current:)

A bit confusing lucky we are fairly relaxed in the UK about what you want to be called lol

I feel you. Having 2 given names, mother's maiden name and last name makes it so long. It is entirely up to you which one you will use really. Either you retain them or omit some.

I am going to renew my passport soon and carry on using my husband's last name, personally, I will have to omit my maiden surname.

In our case, after our marriage, my wife chose to use her fathers surname as her middle name, and adopted my surname as hers. So effectively, her mothers surname was dropped.

I would use the best name that makes your paperwork consistent. You can always change your first, middle or last name easily in the UK once you have gained your UK passport or ILR and your situation has stabilised.

You mean she hasn't taken your name as her family name? No legal requirement to do so, more of a tradition I guess.

Ah OK so same as mine, her family name becomes her middle name and adopts your family name as her surname.

yes, had a discussion about this last night with the wife and daughter, and discussed out if my interest how her daughters name would progress through life currently she is...

(First names)Kate Angeline (middle name) Lamsen (wifes family name) Jacob (Fathers name)
    she would expect to become
Kate Angeline Jacob(family name) ? married name
