Four pages, two devoted to Jeremy Corbyn and his "coalition of chaos"

    They've kindly listed their achievements.

    Boast Number 1.
Deficit down by almost two thirds. In 2010 they promised it would be gone by the end of the last Parliament (2015)

    Boast Number 2
Reducing Income Tax for 31 million people. Pretty sure that was a Lib Dem policy.

    Boast Number 3
2.8 million new jobs. This is correct, but how many are zero hour contracts? A job isn't simply a statistic.

    Boast Number 4
    Welfare Capped

Not only capped, but taken from the terminally ill.

    Boast Number 5
Crime down by a third. Perhaps because there are 20,000 fewer cops on the beat?

    Pissing contest?

It would be nice if these leaflets spoke about policies - for the benefit of those of us who don't vote out of loyalty for a party. I have not received any others but will comment as they come in.

All of the ones I get are put into the recycling bins and I get my information direct from the party websites.

Like this pledge on page 79 of the 24 month old Tory manifesto. Maintaining an armed forces of 82,000. It's currently 79000.

Our Defence Secretary has had a bit of a Diane Abbott here:

Apologies, Abbott got the figures wrong because she is out of her depth. Fallon was merely being creative.

    To quote your linked article:
The Conservative manifesto said: "we will maintain the size of the regular armed services and not reduce the army to below 82,000"

The size of the armed forces has slipped slightly under this level, 3.6% under actually. Michael Fallon has stated that he intends to restore the level back to 82,000 or more, as promised in the last manifesto.

What part do you not understand???

Oh not again! DrunkenMax raised this yesterday and it was comprehensively debunked. Bluebird claims to be a stickler for accuracy and yet he is so keen to sling the proverbial mud at the Tories that he quotes from biased blogs. In fact, the blogger seemingly got his information from an article in the Times newspaper which contained unsubstantiated allegations made by an unnamed individual claiming he was a former army officer.

The Ministry of Defence regularly publishes the UK Armed Forces Monthly Serives Personnel Statistics and the latest version I could find is dated 9th March 2017 which reports on the situation as of 1st February 2017. On page 5 there appears the following table:

    upload_2017-5-16_7-58-52.png

As I said in the other thread, there are just over 82,000 fully-trained regular soldiers in the army and, from page 9 of the MoD document, there are further 26,530 trained army reservists.

I understand it fully. The Tories made a promise.

The Torygraph reported on a 79000 figure in July. The latest figure I could find was 79027 (1 December 2016). Source :MOD

Since found the figure is even lower.

    Hmmmm.

The figures I downloaded from the MOD showed 79,027 full time trade strength soldiers on December 1st 2016.

Your figures are more up to date, but I think you are looking at the wrong lines. The question is about Trade Trained Strength figures, which explains why Fallon was not able to disagree with the figures.

Actually the figure is worse than originally stated. It stands at 78,432 as of March 1st 2017

Your figures include other elements and I need to find out what they are.
