Just took a while to spread 7000+ islands means its not going to spread as easily as a non archipelago, there's no pattern, no rhyme nor reason to the lockdown, different in different places.

No that does not stack up, these surge figures are not coming from all over the country, Covid would burn through a small community pretty quickly, it will get as far as the local conditions allow and then burn out because it has nowhere else to go.

The article you posted states that half of all active cases are in Metro Manila right now and the virus has been in the capital for a year now so something has changed, I am only speculating but lockdown has deprived a lot of people of sunlight as I stated before my kids and their friends don't get out now, my (blue t-shirt) son was quite dark in April 2019, the second picture was this Christmas just past, you can see how fair skinned my daughter is too.

I think they may have hurt themselves as a population by having many more people vitamin D deficient as a result of lockdown, just speculation on my part but something has changed.

Whats happening in manila certainly isn't happening in the rest of the country, everyone in the PI most certainly aren't staying in the house, just a fact, I know people who are out each and every day in the provinces.

Only in the Philippines, some relatives of certain people on the priority vaccine list have been added to the list, viva nepotism :D

Harry Roque the presidential spokesman pulled this face and made noises at politicians he didn't like during a live interview, reminds me of gulf-War chemical Ali in his positive spin, said the PI is doing great during covid, getting on top of it, tackling it (even though he himself is covid positive) etc till the reporter shut him down with facts :D

I wouldn't credit him with the term Mr, pulling faces and making childlike noises while being the presidential mouthpiece, the guys a buffoon.
The reporter told him facts he didn't seem aware of with his "We are beating it, doing better than other countries etc" by telling him cases are rising, what was it today 8667 new cases recorded?

Manila's lockdown is just before Easter and religious gatherings.

I don't know why you got a Creative mark Mike, ECQ starts Monday and lasts till the 4th of April the kids headmaster posted this on the school Facebook group last night.

It makes sense as there is clearly more transmission occurring in the population and having churches packed with people over Easter is a really bad idea.
