Sorry to hear this, very sad.

Most people ultimately die from the ravaging effects of Covid Pneumonia, some suffer additional organ failure so it will have been Pneumonia if he had a positive result to a test.

The thing about the vaccines is not so much stockpiling but production reservation, the UK bought many millions of additional doses of various vaccines of which it can only have used about 100 million shots. The stuff does not have a huge shelf life so it makes little sense to keep reserves of actual stock.

But yes if there are any build ups of aging stock we should be donating that overseas before the use by date.

I think the Philippines has been relying a lot on the COVAX programme from the WHO.

Too many over there are taking in the Facebook crap and hurting themselves and others in the process same is true in the USA.

Sorry I wrote this hours ago at work but didn't post until now.

Pneumonia is a condition where you have fluid in the alveoli, the tiny gas exchange pockets in the lungs, pneumonia can be viral or bacterial in origin, in most cases if caught early enough your lungs will return to normal with treatment and support but not with Covid pneumonia.

Covid pneumonia is really nasty, it's not just any old fluid that accumulates instead it is a fluid containing hyaluronic acid, the stuff they use in cosmetics and praise in cosmetic adverts, the hyaluronic acid is more like a gum or gel and your lungs alveoli don't get better with time at least not in the very short term.

Covid pneumonia has a particular granulation signature on x-rays of the lungs and is not like what doctors see with other types of pneumonia, to my knowledge the effect can still be seen months later in people who recover, indeed this phenomena of granulation is also seen in the lungs of people who were asymptomatic, people who had no idea they had Covid.

It's a really nasty brutal disease.

I agree with you anyone over 50 that thinks their vitamin D supplements are a magic bullet are delusional, it'll help but there so many other factors that no one can tell if they will be ok or not.

There was a right wing radio host in the USA Phil Valentine who made fun of vaccines earlier this year who was convinced he would be fine if he caught it, he recorded a parody song called the "Vaxman" a Beatles parody, for some reason a few months back Facebook served this guy up to me in a video he had just caught Covid and was very upbeat expecting to get better, he spent his final month on an ECMO machine, basically a machine that oxygenates your blood outside of your body basically half of a heart lung life support machine.

He died a couple of weeks ago, three right wing vaccine critical radio hosts have died in the USA in the last month with Valentine being one of them.

It is a tragic waste of life, the people dying from Covid, while biased towards the elderly with comorbidities, are on average losing 10 years of life expectancy.

Contrary to the notion that someone in their 80s has already passed average lifespan age and so they are not really losing anything that is simply not true because life expectancy changes with age, if you make it to 80 there is a good chance you had another 8 or so good years in front of you, even the old are losing out enormously with this thing.

Well, Mrs Ash’s sister is still teaching from home. And her nephew (other sisters son) is still learning from home. It’s all dragging on a bit.

All the students I know are either getting online tuition or online reviews, the teachers are trying to jazz classes up a bit, one has dyed her hair bright peroxide blonde to look like Barbie, another lady wears revealing tops :geek:

I thought it didn't add up before when you said she wasn't studying, every student I know in the PI is still studying/reviewing, some send me weekly updates,, the classes are ongoing, it's the exams that are on hold for obvious reasons.

Many :D all of the family studying are studying one branch of medicine or another, they have seen medical professional family members abroad who are doing exceptionally well in the States and Canada and they want a bite of that pie.

Got a family member flying back from Cebu this week (brit passport), they will be in a quarantine hotel on Bath Road (I see the travel quarantine residents doing their outside exercise often, allowed to walk around the hotel grounds under supervision from security guards). I am going to drop toiletries off at the reception, another family member, filipina, asked can I drop them food off  for two thousand and odd quid I know grub is included
