Dale Winton, the TV presenter, has died at the age of 62

Dale Winton, the TV presenter, has died at the age of 62, the star's agent said this evening.

Winton wasbest known for presenting the shows including Dale's Supermarket Sweep from 1993 until 2000 and again in 2007, and the National Lottery game show In It to Win It.
He died at his home earlier on Wednesday. His long-term agent Jan Kennedy said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today.

"While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief."

    No further details were announced.

More recently the star, known for his tanned appearance, made a show for Channel 5 called Dale Winton's Florida Fly Drive.

TV stars shared their disbelief at the news and paid tribute to the presenter. Davina McCall said he was "a lovely, warm, kind, sensitive, generous soul with a touch of naughty" while Piers Morgan said he was a "warm, funny man and superb TV presenter".

Singer Boy George said he was "shocked", posting a message on Twitter saying Winton "was a sweet man" while TV star Paddy McGuinness said Winton was "the perfect host".

Winton started his career as a DJ in London and worked on local radio, before joining the BBC in 1986. He later worked for Channel 4 and ITV.

Can't believe he died. RIP. Here's a video Dale starred in with Sleeper - Inbetweener.

Me neither, well not UK TV anyway. Netflix is my goto, with CNN, SKY and BBC for news, FOX for sport.
    RIP

Couldn't stand him, a B or C rated presenter who had a few years of populism when it was pc to be a presenter and open about your sexuality.
I guess he has checked out one last time

I would guess he probably committed suicide. He ahd suffered from depression for some time and according to reports had recentlyhad to sell his home to pay debts. Sad for the guy, he was very popular with the daytime crowd I understand and I will give his due, he only wanted ever to be a TV presenter and held no apsirations to serious topics or acting.

    RIP perma tan man.
