Hi guys, I had a quick look through the forum before signing up and there seems to be lots of useful information which is great, I think I’m going to need it! I have a Filipina girlfriend who I have been in a relationship with for around 2 and a half years, we had a baby daughter 4 months ago and the next step is to take them here to the UK. She has never been out of South East Asia and we plan for her to come here on a tourist visa. I’ve read on here there is also a fiancé visa. This would perhaps be a better option, if we were to get married in the UK, I take it that it would make things easier for when we apply for a permanent visa for her and my daughter. Good to be here and hope to chat in the future
Hi Dan and a warm welcome. The benefit of the Fiancee visa over a tourist visa or the other visa option which is a marriage visit visa is that once your gf is here she wont have to leave using the fiancee visa route unless your future spouse visa application was turned down. I would certainly argue that having gotten a Fiancee visa you have done a lot of the ground work in obtaining the spouse visa in the future once married, although you will have to update the information you supply for that application. Have you considered a British Passport for your child?
