Historically has always that find out when get passport back. Wouldn't worry as long as followed advice.
Thanks. As far as I am aware, everything is OK. Though, I didn't feel my confidence was inspired by solicitors who provided services, and I did everything myself. Though, I think I dotted every i and crossed every t. It's annoying that we were told that the decision had been made after the end of working hours (Indonesia) on the Friday before a long weekend. But, that's life.
Should not be any issues if read up and applied what you learned. Majority of people on here have done applications themselves and in ways that works better as retain control of the process and application and UKVI deals with you not solicitor. Solicitor are useful if complex case, don't have knowledge or not willing to gain it. Majority of people manage it without.
Thanks. I spent a lot of time studying everything I needed for the application, and think I covered everything. We spent a couple of months building the application, checking and rechecking. I'm still not quite sure what a solicitor would have done other than ask us for the materials we had to supply. We paid to have documents checked by VFS Global. Though, I heard that the check was quite quick. I think that our situation is ... more likely to be accepted with no problems than some other cases I've read about online. E.g. we have been in a relationship for years, have spent time together in the UK and in Indonesia, we can speak fluently together, we meet the financial requirements, have a place to live (with proper documentation/report), and so on. Given that the majority of applications are approved, I think it's extremely likely we will be approved. But, I can't help being a bit nervous until we actually have the decision. I've heard that they're most suspicious of couples who haven't met in person, can't speak together lacking a common language, where there are extreme age differences (note: I don't criticise this - my brother is in a successful and lasting inter-generational relationship), whether the foreign partner has never visited the UK, etc. Doing a previous visit visa gave me a bit of confidence. But, not enough to not be worrying now, even though logically I think it's extremely likely a 'yes'. I'll most likely stop annoying people on the forum after Tuesday (I will post the result.)
We've just been informed that my wife's spousal visa has been approved. I'm a bit surprised that the visa has only been approved until October 2027, when I was expecting two years nine months. I think the approval works out at less than two years six months, so I'm concerned that it will take more than one renewal to get to five years. But, at least we have an approval and she can study and work in the UK if she decides to.
I'm assuming you had fiance visa and now just had spouse visa approved while she is in the UK. Normally when spouse is in UK and get spouse visa the visa duration is for 2.5 years so this is normal. You apply for spouse extension visa at most one month before the first spouse visa. Don't apply for a quick decision and take time doing biometrics. That should generate another month or two. Next visa will be for another 2.5 years from approval date which means should have the 5 years.
As you have wrote this in April and stated approved till October 2027 I have used 26th April to 26th October 2027 which is 2.5 years which is correct, you can only apply for FLR 28 days prior to the end valid to date October 2027, once your FLR application is submitted and assuming you do submit the application on time you are allowed to stay in the UK while the decision is made. The system drives the process of limits to when you have to attend biometrics etc ( must be done within a certain number of days of applying) so by the time you get the decision and FLR (x number of weeks)you will of been here in excess of 60 months. You are on the right track! Relax and enjoy
Thanks both, and everyone. We seem to be on track. I was just briefly worried that we would end up having to renew again 4 years and 11 months into her stay. We're away (in Liverpool at the moment), so I will look into things in more detail on Saturday.
I've been doing all the Beatley things. But today is my wife's choice of activities and we're doing the LFC stadium tour.
Now we're back, we've done the bits online to prove identity as stage 1 of getting the evisa thing which will allow other things to happen. It does seem to be a case of do one very complicated thing, then onto another complicated thing, and so on.
