    Hi
It's been a long time since posting here but after hearing about this filipina I feel compelled to ask for advise from the community.

We all hear of guys getting scammed for money by girls from the Philippines by one way or another.
This story is the opposite way around.

I have come across a filipina on facebook that had suspicions about her UK fiancé visa, asking if it if real. After her telling my wife her story and seeing the visa, it is definitely not a genuine visa that has been obtained for her. It looks like a real visa with her photo but has too many anomalies on it and is not even in her passport. Even the process in which it was applied and paid for was incorrect.

She has naively thought that she had a genuine long distant relationship even thou they had not meet. The whole process is an elaborate 2 yr scam with about 400,000 pesos sent to the Philippine pick up points. She has photos of her fiancé and his British / Irish passport. She also has other photos and evidence of other filipinas one supposed to be in the UK and the other in the Philippines who have played a part of this deception.

There is much more to this story as you can imagine, she has had her dreams shattered and is very distressed not fully believing this has happened to her. She is an OFW, working hard in HK as a housemaid the past 5 years. Now owing a lot of money that she borrowed in the expectation of a better life.

What would people advise her to do?

Sadly ladies like this are ripe for the picking, I have known a couple in the PI who were offered jobs from companies purportedly in the UK who wanted processing fees upfront etc. The ladies in HK work super hard for their cash, heartbreaking for the lady involved, was the cash sent bank to bank or PayPal?

Did she ever chat with the guy via webcam? Photos of a passport wouldn't confirm that you are speaking to the true passport holder without video confirmation at the least.

Reading this, it reminds me an awful lot of a recent series of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. There were several train wrecks on that series, including Big Ed and poor little Filipina Rose who is now something of a social media starlet.

One of the couples featured was Yolanda who had been communicating with a British guy called Williams. Yes, that's Williams with an 's' at the end. She communicated mainly via messaging apps and sometimes on voices calls. Never in person or video. It was obvious from the first time that Yolanda opened her mouth that Williams was probably Nigerian or other West African scammer.

I know the Philippines does attract the dregs of British society (after all, I have been there many times), but this sounds quite unique for a British expat to scam a girl like this? My hunch is that a Filipino has impersonated a British guy and scammed one of his own.

. Yes she did use cam to cam he is a westerner. His story was he is a marine engineer and works for a Canadian company. He says the boat is in Batangas port and confined to the boat due to having Covid. The passport and pictures seem to match. He says he’s from London and his passport is from Northern Ireland. I have found out that 3 Filipinas have collected money for the visa application and also to help him. At first I did also wonder if he is a local, but now I’m fairly sure he’s from England, or a westerner using this passport. He has sent her a letter from the UBA Glasgow saying that she has a 12 month fiancée visa, again this not real. He has said he is using an agent in the UK all without documents or her passport. She is now in a terribly desperate situation.

Yes I have pictures, name passport details. His address is in London. One of the Filipinas is in Manchester I have her name and addresses and photo, this is if they really live there. Im waiting for permission to post on as many Facebook groups connected to the Philippines. This guy and friends need to be stopped, it’s really not fair to take advantage or this girl or any others.

My sons mother was a DH in HK when I met her, it's absolute scum behaviour to defraud these ladies of their hard earned cash.

Yes they sacrifice their lives for the family. This lady was hoping for better future but has been deceived by this guy, after many years working in HK. Does anyone think the UK embassy in the Philippines or the home office would be interested, that his passport is involved in an online deception or fraud?

The answer is no. I know exactly what you’re thinking . I answered a question asking about her visa in a Filipino/ Uk group. After a conversation her, my wife and I. She sent a photo of her visa that was not fixed in her passport. After asking more questions, my wife and I realised the the whole process for the application was wrong. So it was us that pointed out to her she is being scammed. I’m 100% she is genuine.

This could be as I am sure you are aware an elaborate scam on her part alone or with others.
You ask if the British passport office would be interested in the use of a British/ Irish passport in a deception at this stage I am not sure they would be as at present the events are allegations happening in foreign countries albeit some potential involvement from the passport holder!
The fact you want to try and help is commendable and I would start by getting some basic further questions answered.
    1. The boats name when it docked and has it departed ( there must be a boat tracker site)
    2. What company does chap work for is the company still going and have they an interest in maritime or and maritime engineers.
3.where. is chap now is she still in contact
4.is the London address residential Google map is your friend here
    5. Are the associates on Facebook
You may know a lot of the answers already.
    Hope this helps

I have asked many of the questions that you are asking I have done some research myself and have got nowhere. The fiancé has given many dubious reasons for not being able to give her information. The girl is not excepting or listening to why she doesn’t have a visa. Her fiancé has told her that it is in fact a real visa. She has excepted his explanation and they are waiting for the Covid restriction to be lifted, then they can have interviews with the British Embassy.I have realised that love is truly blind. There is nothing more I can do to help.
