There's a coincidence. I started my working life in a very large pet store/corn merchants, and later ran my own aquatics and pets supply business for a few years... before jetting off to the Philippines. I had 150 + display tanks . :like:

Breaking my heart throwing out loads of perfectly good Fluval filters, lighting equipment, heater-stats etc, from my last home aquariums, before my move to the Phils next week. Just couldn't justify another Balikbayan box. :(

Those creatures that live in the sea sadly now have the luxury of micro plastics.

    True.

Though, on principle, I would never keep or sell marine creatures anyway.

Those of you that had some exposure to tropical fish and aquariums will know that when it comes to decorating the tank one cannot simply stuff any old lump of rock into it, no matter how great it looks.

A pal of mine in IloIlo collects and breeds spiders. Some look pretty mean.

Yes , second hand aquarists equipment has little value unfortunately . I've still got lots of my old equipment cluttering up my sons garage .
That's without probably three boxes full of beautiful coral pieces , that were bought many years before it became environmentally unacceptable .

My son asked me for a pet spider for his birthday, so I went to our local pet shop & they were £70!!!

Blow this, I thought, I can get one cheaper off the web.

i ended up keeping marines. luckily i got most of my stuff trade--or free. we operated a kind of " lets" system. goods in lieu of wages.

. all thats long gone now. just a pond / water feature in the garden...a few goldfish..a visiting heron....

People forced to drink water out of a tap in Manila were and probably still are at high risk of getting typhoid..The hospitals were full of them before these new fangled water purification stations started springing up in the 90`s..
We buy all of our drinking water here from these places..15 Peso for 5 gallons.

Looks like I'm the exception rather than the rule...again!! I don't drink tap water when I'm in UK. I'm sure that its perfectly safe, I just don't like the taste. I guess it comes from having spent pretty much my entire adult life as an expat, where in the countries I worked in, it was advisable to drink bottled water. I have no idea about tap water here in Philippines, but as water is so cheap to buy, I don't see the point in taking any unnecessary risks. I can sympathise with the OP's wife concerns.

Well, I didn't die or got sick after drinking tap water in the UK.

    I didn't mutate as well.

So I guess it's safe? Hahahahahha...
