Thanks for the information. This is still something we are thinking of doing, but it just seems so much hassle for something they shouldn't have to do. Just a way of extracting 46 more quid off people really. I'm not even sure that people really need to do it as Filipino citizenship is theirs by right anyway.
In our case..my wife renewed her phils passport in april last year...a 10 year one i think. Her ILR comes up in may 2021...with her citizenship to follow..and a UK passport in due course. So..what happens about her phils passport..is it still valid..or not ? Do the UK passport office notify the philippines about her UK passport ? If not..how will they ever find out? When she travels over there...does she take both passpotts ..or what ? Bare in mind we still havent notified the phils authorities about our marriage.. in 2016. She still uses her old name on all UK documents.
This might help further and the topic is something I will need to look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_nationality_law
It's a shame her time as a student doesn't count for ILR! A bit unfair that a dependant can catch up and be in UK less time than a student plus spouse
