My 8 year old has had her first (home learning) geology lessons this last week. The class had to replicate tectonic plate movement using crackers , cream cheese and red food colouring. She has an understanding of how earthquakes and volcanoes happen now. We watched a video of Pinatubo in 1991 and I explained to her about the Philippines and it’s position on the Ring of Fire. One of her home learning slides showed the Ring of Fire. https://www.playdoughtoplato.com/graham-cracker-plate-tectonics/ Also at school they are devising a school “Eco Code”.
Another this morning. https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/earthquakes/6089045/2021-02-07/04h22/magnitude6-Philippines.html
Some say the Pacific will close and result in the next supercontinent, who knows. Whatever happens it will be volcanic in the Philippines for a geologic era as long as the Palaeozoic unless the subduction zones change
Anyone remember the earthquake simulation room in the natural history museum in London?there was a number of people in when the floor started shaking, with the precocity of a travelled 6 year old child my son said in a loud voice "This isn't like a real earthquake"
