Can some one tell me which test my wife needs to book for the spouse visa please. On the gov site there’s slot of option and sub categories. Thank you
At least level A1 for the spouse visa. What people are trying to do now is go for the level B1 because it will be re-use when applying for FLR when spouse visa expires so she don't have to take another exam when she arrives in the UK.
Well she can speak fluent English so I’m guessing it’s just better to take B1 then. Thank you for your reply.
I'm confused... I thought A1 was for the Fiancé(e) Visa - before entry to the UK - then A2 for the FLR (Spouse) Visa once in the UK (& married!). Not sure beyond that...!
I found out here is the answer, thank you everyone Is required to do the IELTS LIFE SKILLS A1 speaking and listening test. This is specific to those people who are seeking to join their partners in the UK.
Had i known i need to take another english exam after the end of the first spouse visa, i would have taken them. Its another expense i need to incur. @court95 tell your partner that it is very easy. There are practice materials available at their website (i used british council) and it went exactly as it is. I cant believe i paid that much for that service.
No A1 is both for fiancé and spouse visa. A2 is the requirement when you apply for FLR after being in the UK for 2.5 years. B1 is for people applying for ILR after being in the UK for 5 years.
JESUS H CHRIST!!! This just gets worse... So there are, in fact, FOUR Visa 'hoops' to jump through during the 5-year period - Fiancé(e), Spouse, FLR and ILR?!!! Everything I have read so far indicated that the Spouse and FLR Visa were the same thing! This brings to mind another question... what does the (M) suffix on the FLR Visa stand for? Is it possible - and is there any advantage - to bypass the A2 exam and go straight to B1 after 2.5 years?
Spouse visa route = Spouse (Entry clearance 2.5 yrs), FLR, ILR Fiance visa route = Fiance (6 month entry to UK), FLR, FLR, ILR. Your partner can then do an optional Citizenship. M = Married (partner) There was a conversation yesterday about English tests and applying for a higher level than required. Apparently it is okay to do.
yep--and at todays rates--including citizenship and IHS surcharge--you wont get much change out of 8 grand ( £ not PP)
