Hello all, hope you've all had a great Christmas and New year. So I guess this one is on me, I noticed an error on my wedding certificate. On my birthday certificate it says STOKE-ON-TRENT On our marriage certificate it says NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME So obviously my passport says STOKE-ON-TRENT too. Would this cause any issues with the spouse visa? And if so, is it easy enough to fix? Thanks very much in advance.
Hello Mattecube, thankyou for your reply. I forgot to mention that the marriage was in the Philippines. Is this link only for UK based weddings? Maybe the process is similar in the Philippines
Process that seems to apply is RA 9048. https://psa.gov.ph/civilregistration/civil-registration-laws/faq-republic-act-no-9048 From experience correcting step sons birth certificate the process was relatively simple just took months until the revised certificate could be obtained from PSA. Need to go see the local registry office where marriage was registered.
Thanks alot, happy to here it's simple. Will have to get it sorted ASAP if it can take months to be obtainable, cheers for the heads up. From the link, looks like I'll need to send a scan of my passport and birth certificate over showing my actual place of birth.
May need originals. Definitely worth wife visiting the local registry office and getting a list of requirements. Remember we were missing one document when we went first time and had to come back which was a pain as was living about three or four hours drive away. Had document at home but hadn't brought as didn't think required. Real issue is time as think it took us about six to nine months until we could get revised birth certificate.
The originals might be a stretch for me cos I live in the UK and my wife in phils. Also time would be a problem, dunno if money can speed it up but if so I'll take that route. Planning on bringing my wife to the UK in August (if travel bans are lifted then) and I'm not sure if applying for the visa with different place of birth in Marriage Certificate to my passport would be an issue. Can't find any info on that so may have to take the question to a good lawyer.
