Well I'm finally going to take the plunge and apply for a fiancé visa so my girlfriend can fly here to the UK so we can get married, however, I don't really have a clue how to go about doing this and where to start. there are so many confusing messages on the internet its giving me a headache. May I ask if anyone who has successfully
applied in bringing their girlfriend here to the UK give me some advice.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Start here -

    https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/partner-spouse

Remember, read and respond AS IF you are the Applicant, assuming you complete it on behalf of your fiancé(e)!

Ask questions on here as they arise...

    Good luck.

Good luck with the process. In addition to what UKDJ mentioned, you could also look at migrate.org.uk website. They have a pretty good description of what to do and the steps in which to take. I got married in Filo but paid for a solicitor to do the spouse visa. I feel that was a wasted £2200 and will do all the future bits myself. Besides there are lots of help to be found on here. However, should you feel it gets too daunting then migrate do sell a pack which guides you through everything and costs a lot less than a solicitor.

Two types of fiancee visa and both have benifits and drawbacks one is a
    Fiancee visa
The other is a Fiancee visit visa
Explore the link @UKDJ has posted and ask away on here, remember no question is a silly question so don't be afraid to ask.

Don't bother with a solicitor have a look at this https://www.migrate.org.uk/fiance-visa-uk-2018/ then come on here and ask questions then DIY it, save yourself a few quid because it's you that will gather the info while the solicitor will just put it all your info together, so I suggest you do it yourself then come on here and ask any questions as most of the members have been through the various visa processes.

Ok so as I understand it, I will apply using my fiancees name but using my email address, and answer any questions as though they come from my fiancee.
    Am I correct .

Hiya, so long as you are both single ie free to marry, you meet the financial requirement in whatever way, have suitable accommodation then you should be fine, it's not really difficult just use common sense, how long depends on how quick your partner can get their side of things done, such as the english language test, TB test, for yourself it's just collecting the various info and form filling i almost forgot and paying Hahaha. Good luck everyone on here will be only to happy to help, their are some great clued up guys.

Yes, but remember to give your fiancee access as their are probably some family questions such as parents name, dob, where born and so on, this will save you time having to go back and forth asking.

I've just checked out the migrate website (2 hours on their website) which I do feel was 2 hours well spent, has anyone used the DIY pack + £450 and do they think its worthwhile. To me it does look quite comprehensive and helpful, Especially the hidden costs link .

I have found the Migrate website very helpful along with help from members on here, primarily they got me and my wife through the process, basically it's your choice what you go for.

I set up a 'joint' web-based email address - e.g. GMail, Yahoo, outlook.com - specifically for my (then) fiancée's Visa journey, and shared the password with her. That way you can (both) access it from anywhere with an Internet connection...

You create a UKVI account to complete the application online - using the 'joint' email address - and go from there...

Remember... you are completing the application as if you are your Partner!

Even if they were able to get a Tourist/Visitor Visa, somewhere in the guidelines I recall it says they have to apply for a Fiancé(e) from OUTSIDE the UK, so they would have to return home anyway to apply for the Fiancé(e) visa - you can't apply to 'stay' in the UK whilst on a Tourist/Visitor Visa, by applying for a Fiancé(e) Visa whilst here!
