    Hi All,

My Wife and child (child holds British Passport but is also on visit visa) will be travelling to the UK from Philippines shortly. After booking the flight it stated some requirements on leaving. see attached:

    1) travel insurance to cover covid expenses if hospitalised in UK
    2) complete bureau of immigration acknowledgement risks of travel
    3) acceptable proof of funds of travel, etc. Affidavit

Will my Wife need insurer from Philippines, if so which company is best and valid in UK to cover.

I am the sponsor, based in uk. I have already provided bank statements and letters to get the visa, will they be enough to shie again or does she need a signed affidavit?

    Thanks for any help!

Usually the airline provide an option to take their short term travel insurance when you buy a flight this applies even when a flight is bought in the Philippines.

There are no covid restrictions in the UK anymore so point 1) appears unlikely.

    2) "bureau of immigration" is a Philippine term, that is their bureau of immigration nothing to do with the UK, it sounds like a formality, i.e. yes I understand the risks.

    3) "Funds", this again in part sounds like Philippine requirement but could be a UK requirement, YOU are her sponsor you are the provider of funds, there are UK rules about accommodation when people visit the UK, you need to provide a letter detailing your personal support which you will provide when they travel to the UK.

Can I ask because I've forgotten, you haven't yet started the spouse visa track have you?

    Hi OSS,

    Hope you're well.

No option given by airline, apparently I can take out insurance locally in Philippines before travelling.

I have a letter detailing all support which was given with the visit visa application. I will undertake spouse shortly after our Daughter finishes school in Philippines.

    Thanks for your guidance.

@CebuanoBrit my wifes daughter and grand daughter who have visited UK and recently Thailand and Malaysia for a family holiday!

1We use AXA see link we use them because they are worldwide and competitive in their policies https://www.axa.com.ph/travel-insurance

    2. They complete this form but at departure its hit and miss if asked for!

3We always have a small information pack for them to have with them for example, when we met them in Thailand we were flying from UK and they from the Philippines so their pack consisted of our flight details from UK, the hotel details, by providing this anyone could see that there was a genuine meet up planned, I wrote a small covering letter saying they were traveling with a small amount of money because me and my wife were funding the whole trip and also for security reasons, the grand daughter is the sole responsibility of her mother and they carry child BC to confirm this, as I am sponsor along with my wife they also carry a copy of our Biometrics page out of our current passports. They also have contact details
    Hope this helps

    Thank you Mattecube, great info.

My Daughter was granted her British passport during visit visa application. Would it be better to stick with travelling on Philippines passport to uk? Would it effect the visit visa of my Wife if our daughter now has a UK Passport?

Has your wife got her visit visa approved?
In theory your daughter could leave on Philippines passport and arrive in UK on her UK Passport (Personally I recommend at the very least arriving in the UK on her UK Passport as it could be argued but I am sure it will not arise that the person is the responsibility of the passport she used to enter the country in a time of difficulty for the traveller) Then leave UK on her UK passport and reenter the Philippines on her Philippines passport to enjoy the benefits of Philippines citizenship

So I will need to get my Daughtrr travel insurance even though she is entitled to British Health care ( what's left of it).

I just know they question everything on leaving Philippines.

You have to be resident as opposed to british passport holder to avail of NHS. Potentially can fudge the issue with you living here and then registering her with a GP but if they establish she is non-resident then can expect charges. To be resident then expectation is that coming to live here permenantly.

Probably best showing both passports going out and back to philippines. Assuming been in philippines for 12 months then think daughter is liable to pay travel tax anyway. Think I would come into UK using UK passport. Also means should be able to use the UK queues on arrival traveling as family.

Why would you want to show both passports entering or leaving a country? This would only create confusion! ie if reentering the Philippines on an either or passport are you entitled to what resident rights, it is right and proper to leave on the Philippines passport and re enter on the Philippines passport.

We've been through that discussion before, personally I agree with Br28016 it was always my understanding that showing both passsports on exiting the Philippines was the normal practice.

The immigration officers checking passports at exit might want to see proof that the the traveller has the right to go to the destination country, and that would require a visa, the airline check-in desk will definitley want to see proof that that a traveller can enter the destination so they need to see the British Passport, at the customs border desk if they only see a British passport they will start looking for the entry stamp of when this foreigner arrived and if they only see a Philippine passport without a visa they might question if this traveller will be accepted at the final destination, so why not just show both passports on exit.

Yes aware that this has been discussed before, and its a fair point to if requested show the second passport ie in tis case the UK passport on exit however the stamps would work in the simplest form as follows depart Philippines Exit stamp, arrive UK entry stamp,Depart UK exit stamp, arrive Philippines entry stamp thus making the traveller the responsibility of the entry stamp country and they the traveller can enjoys the benefits of citizenship.
if the airline ticket matches up with the name in both passports then you can present your UK passport at check in so you are seen as having the right to travel to the UK and through immigration use the method above
