I'm sure Adam won't stop you from making Filipino foods but it's only fair to him if you can learn British foods too. It's only a fair compromise. After all, cooking Filipino and British foods is like having the best of both worlds. :cat::cat:

This is the adjustment period. There is so much to learn between the two cultures. Learning is the good part of this journey because you'll have more knowledge of things and life. We'll get over it soon.:D
Let's all embrace it and enjoy the ride. ;)

My wife found a pair of socks with ""fingers" for the toes. Whilst the very first thing that I bought her was a pair of warm slippers, she now has the option of wearing sandals (known to us Brits as "flipflops" - no reference to President Duterte intended!) round the house in winter!

Had no idea, even more impressed with your kind replies to my queries elsewhere during your final days preparing - hope you arrived safely and enjoy life here :)

Maghanda ka na. Prepare thyself for winter!

Joke. But you will really experience the full change in climate between the Philippines and the UK.

Hmm good idea. Conversely, before I go Pinas I'll acclimatise and put my head in the oven for an hour each day :D

My fiancé Kris has been staying with me for about 3 weeks now

Things are great but I've noticed she is obsessional about checking "sell by" / "best before" dates on foodstuffs.

I probably made a rod for my own back as I skyped with her as I cleaned out my kitchen cupboards. Hot Chocolate 5 year's past date. Stock cubes ditto. Herbs and spices only fit for a museum!

Another peeve of hers is if there is any detergent bubbles on plates / pots etc when I place in the drainer. I've explained gravity will take care of things and it's the Brit way - cuts no ice. I'm convinced she thinks any dried-in residue will poison us!

Still love her to bits tho'! :);):like:

Lol I don't like the Brit way of washing plates that's why when I came here my partner never washed plates again. We Filipinos like to rinse our plates after washing it with detergent not just let the gravity do the work. :D

We don't like it bubbly. :D

Agreed, my wife always rinses the dishes after washing. Exactly the same as I used to do it, so no issue.

My wife puts washing-up liquid direct on the sponge and then washes the dishes under a running tap. We get through a lot of Fairy Liquid in our house and our water bill is higher than it ought to be

Asawa now sees the logic in the gravity system. Path of least resistance/less work always prevails :)

Back in PI her mama has a sponge in a small tub of washing liquid/water mix. After washing the dish individually she then rinses off, tap constantly running.
