    Hi all,

Just got our TB certificate yesterday (clear - hurrah! :like:), and officially applied for our fiance settlement visa via visa4uk last night. Also then went to VFS website to book our biometrics appointment etc (I decided to pay for priority visa processing).

We're going to biometrics today, so as soon as I am back in the UK (Sunday/Monday) I'll be posting all our evidence off.

Would you kind folk gaze over my documents list before I send everything off? I'm pretty sure I have everything in order (as I've asked a lot here before), but I don't want to trip on the last hurdle :)

    Thanks!

    And some final questions,
    • Does Sheffield need a copy of the applicant's passport at all?
    • Now we have the CFO certificate, is it worth including a copy of that, as further evidence of 'intent'?

    Thank you all!

I don’t know if Sheffield needs a copy of the passport but you can include a scan copy of it.
The CFO certificate has nothing to do with your visa application so you don’t have to include it at all.

Okay Brom, thanks. Your input is always very much appreciated.

I only wondered if the CFO certificate would help, because it proves the applicant has already been interviewed and has satisfied Philippines' authorities on reasons for emigrating etc.

First things I noticed (there may be others):

The applicant needs to provide an NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) Certificate - similar to the UK CRB/DBS Certificate - to prove no criminal record.

Sheffield don't NEED a copy of Applicant's passport, as it will be scanned and sent by VFS at the biometrics appointment - no harm including it if you want to...

Sponsor doesn't send ORIGINAL passport! Just a certified copy (Solicitor - may charge a small fee).

the sponsor doesnt send in his passport--but a true copy certified by a solicitor.

driving licence--?? what if you need to produce it meantime ?

otherwise you look all set to go. looks "straightforward " to me.

hope it doesnt take too long

I agree. We also sent the original copy of my fiance's NBI clearance. Tell the NBI the reason is for immigration.

Although one thing that frustrated us was that we had to wait for 10 working days for it to be released and they had the wrong person which had the same name as my fiance in the clearance - so we had to wait another 10 working days!

The NBI Certificate is discussed here, but easily missed!

Okay, I've applied on https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph for the NBI, and paid at the local 7-Eleven. NBI site confirms it's paid and we have an appointment for pick-up tomorrow at the UN Avenue NBI branch. Will get there early incase we need to sit around. Fingers crossed.

Hmmm, just wondering, is the whole visa application worthless now, even if we get the NBI tomorrow? Considering it's a key document which will be dated *after* the application and biometrics? :(

Ahh! That's convenient! We had to wait 10/20 days for ours - maybe because it's in the province.

Well I'm holding my breath until we actually have the NBI in-hand!

Although my fiancee says she got her last one the same day, when she was going to work as OFW, so there's a good chance it'll work out.

Dont worry about the nbi cert. if you get it include them in your application pack if not then dont worry too much about it.
I didnt include that in our application pack. The application asks if she has been convicted of certain crimes - so if she signed it as ‘no/not applicable’ then they will take her word for it - hence taking care of that nbi thing (otherwise, she will be caught of stuff that is written in there etc).

I only included my then F’s passport copy and driving license copy. No originals.

Thank you, @Maley, that positive note put my sanity level back in the green!

We will go shortly to NBI and hopefully pick up a clearance cert to include in the evidence pack (even if it will be dated 1 day after biometrics ) . I guess if we have problems, we'll just have to risk submission without it. I'd rather not submit without one after reading the other replies though (which imply that the visa is failed before it's begun without it). I have read other forums though that say NBI isn't needed - additionally I can't see an NBI/CRB/equivalent requested on any UKVI/VFS document or guide I've looked at.

We didn't send any NBI stuff. Can't see the UK decision makers being that interested in all the multitude of ID documents that Filipinos possess.

The NBI clearance is not needed at all, I don’t know where people are getting this.

It may not be needed but I rather think it will speed-up the processing of an application if a fresh one is included. Reason being that it may reduce the number of queries an ECO needs to make about an applicant - in this case, via the embassy in Manila.

No NBI ever used here, either. We needed it originally for her passport, but not for the visa. This is a UK visa, you don't need Filipino stuff like this or the Cenomar to obtain it.

Thank you all for the additional comments. I'm so very grateful.

I accompanied my fiancee to the NBI HQ in Manila this morning... what an experience! Managed to pay a "back-hander" of P1400 to get it processed straight away. In and out of the place inside 20 mins! Felt dodgy as Hell, but my fiancee assured me "it's just how things are in the Philippines - if you have money, you get things fast!".

So, relieved that it's not a strict requirement, but, in agreement with @Markham, I can't see how it'll do any harm including in my evidence pack early next week.

    Thanks again.

Oh, I also found that, on a UKVI PDF document headed 'Changes to process for UK settlement visa applicants in Philippines', they do state, in regards to the evidence pack destined for Sheffield:

    "
    • Please also include a photocopy of biometric page of the applicant’s passport at the front of the bundle.
    "

So thank God we thought to make copies of her passport before handing in at VFS! :D
