FTSE focus tends to be different to DOW.

"FTSE 100 is weighted by market capitalization and includes large multinational companies, heavily represented by banks, energy, and mining sectors. The Dow Jones is price-weighted, meaning stocks with higher share prices have a greater impact, and includes 30 leading U.S. blue-chip companies." DOW is also growth and tech focused which is probably at higher risk with the current Iran war. Energy companies as long as have something to sell are looking at higher profit. Not sure on where banks and mining will factor into that in terms of opportunities and threats. Recession means bad debts which is not so good but higher interest rates is normally good for banks. Coal will potentially see resurgence in interest but takes time to get power plants working again but does see less enthusiasm for shutting them down.

Spread betting is insanity in my opinion but not for the members of the American Cabinet who all have insider access to what's coming next.

Bit annoying the way they make you wait one full calendar month before including you in the draw...

I wouldn't invest in tech stocks at this point, the circular AI investments will never pay off because too few real people are willing to pay for real AI the stuff you get on subscription

The wars and blockade are going to kill tech stocks, Helium deficit through the strait of Hormuz reducing chip manufacturing and the fuel supply shock screwing the ultra power hungry AIs.

I'd invest in Chinese alternative energy companies Solar Panel manufacturers wind turbine manufacturers, if it were possible and I knew how to do it, but the next 10 months I haven't a clue where is safe, there is a direct link between energy and money that has held true for well over a hundred years you can't have 20% of world production vanish and continue as normal.

Power cuts have started in Manila, my daughter has been without power for over 2 hours now in Las Pinas today.

The sh*t hasn't even begun to hit the fan yet we're in the calm before the storm.

edit: I didn't do a flight to safety with my pension I didn't switch to bonds and so far I'm getting my monthly drawdown pretty much for free, that's about a 1% growth per month, it won't last.

Power was off for over 3 hours, Janna reported that it is in fact rotating power cuts because of fuel supply, so that's it they've started power rationing in Metro Manila.

Whatever you do when this SpaceX IPO finally arrives steer clear of it, it's the most obvious case of overvalued junk ever, it's Musk cashing in on what he's built long before any of it ever proves itself.

The SpaceX IPO is rigged, he's merged a pile of sh*tty companies into one, the Grok AI crap xAI and X the carcass of Twitter and SpaceX which is probably now 15 years behind the stated goals of the company and also Starlink the only bit that makes money.

The US has changed all the rules specially for this IPO and although Musk is restricted from selling his shares for a year, early investors in all the sh*tty eXtra companies are probably going to cash in at the expense of those who buy into the IPO, they are trying to raise 75 billion USD with this IPO which is a big enough cushion that all these sh*tty loss making business get to stay alive for a long time and you can bet Musk will cash in as well when his 360 something days are up.

What's pissing me off is that I have no idea if UK institutional investment managers of passive index funds inside pensions will get forced into taking some of this sh*t, the Europeans are banning this IPO and I think they are freaking right.
