    Thanks for that Mattecube, no problems there not in any bother so just the fee to pay 2404 that's saved a few quid no NHS surcharge this time around, I know you applied a while back while your wife was in her maiden name, have you applied british citizenship but on her married name, my wife is still using maiden name for visas but once they are done we will change it to married name will that be a problem?

    Possibly if the applicant and sponsor can no longer meet the financial requirement ?

    My wife used her previous surname throughout. And even for citizenship and uk passport. Its like living in sin.

    I'm sure this has possibly been covered but if the financal requirements reach 38700 is it possible to combine savings along with income. My income is approx 33k plus I have around 35k savings. How is it worked out?

    Short answer - Cash/savings ABOVE £16k can be used to meet the FR;

    Appendix FM -

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/chapter-8-appendix-fm-family-members -

    will give you the finer details.

    Bear in mind, once you are on the Visa 'journey', any increase in the FR is irrelevant - you only have to continue to meet the FR as it was when you started. (I'm sure someone can clarify exactly when you 'start' the journey - is it when you apply, or when the first Visa is granted?)

    You need 2.5 x Your Shortfall + £16000

    So in your case, assuming the worst and it goes to £38,700:

    You would need savings of (£38,700 - £33,000) x 2.5 + £16,000 = £5,700 x 2.5 + £16,000 = £30,250

    As you have £35,000 you'll be ok :like:

    Does that calculate to the equivalent of £88700?

    I'm not sure what you mean - if he didn't have any income at all he would need £112,750 - the Shortfall being £38,700 x 2.5 + £16,000

    FYFI :D There was a mistake in my post - I said "As you have £33,000 you'll be ok" when I should have said As you have £35,000 you'll be ok"
