    Hello Kuya,

My husband is a british citizen and he is trying to get me to the uk. He got hired last june 2015 and got redundant on december 2015..even before we finish the 6 month payslip that we need for the visa application. Now he is trying to find another job but the problem is once he got hired again do we need to wait for another 6 months paryslip before we can apply for my visa? he has a property in portugal which we rent for 400 euros per month and it has been i think 2 years since we got it rented and until now it is still ongoing. can we use this source of income for me to be able to complete the financial requirement that i need for my application? thank you and hope to hear from you.

i'm not sure about the break in employment situation--hopefully others will see this and reply .
i hope your husband gets another job soon.
income from property rental can be counted as part of the income requirement.

I wonder even with the break he may well reach the financial requirement.

quote from the appendix 2 form:

3.22 If your sponsor has not been employed by the same employer for 6 months prior to the application does their total income (before tax) from salaried employment received in the 12 months prior to your application meet or exceed the financial requirement you must meet? >>

you both need to carefully study all of the appendix 2:

Hello again...thank for the information you shared.
Based from the appendix 2, if he meet the financial requirement of 18,900 gbp then it is possible to apply ? From his gathered payslips he was able to receive 20,300 gbp. Do you reckon i can push through to the application?
Thank you very much for being patient answering my questions.

Personally I think you need to wait until he has six months of solid work.

Latest payslips and bankslips need to be no older than 28 days old. They will want to see evidence that he is working.

    Hi everyone,

After marrying in the Philippines in March 2015 I've not seen the wife for over one year after having to get my head down as a self employed franchisee to fulfill the financial requirements which now won't be a problem.

Clarity needed on one issue however in regard to Bank Statements.

I have a business account under the name of my business which is 'ChipsAway Chris Redmond' and all payments I receive go into this account, whilst all business expenses are paid from it.
I also have my old personal account from before acquiring the business and all utility bills for the house are paid via direct debit from this account, so I transfer money from my personal business account to the non-business account every few months to keep it in the black.

The question then is, do I need to provide banks statements from both account for the visa application?

    The actual requirements are here:

    >>(e) Where the person holds or held a separate business bank account(s), bank statements for the same 12-month period as the tax return(s).
    (f) Personal bank statements for the same 12-month period as the tax return(s) showing that the income from self-employment has been paid into an account in the name of the person or in the name of the person and their partner jointly.<<

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, I think you need to provide statements from both accounts.

@Maharg may be able to give you some pointers on this as he is self employed and recently applied and got his second FLR which is basically the same requirement as your application.

If you think about it, if you are in paid employment, you are required to produce your pay slips and copies of your personal bank statements to show that the pay did go into your account.

So the requirement to produce both the business account statements and the personal account statements is really the same thing...

You need 6 months personal statements and you also need business statements going back to the start of the financial year you are declaring.

If you declare after April this year (when the new tax year begins) then you would need statements back to April 2015.

If you are using 2 years of self-employed earnings to show you meet the requirement than you need to go back to the beginning of the FIRST year you are declaring - ie back to April 2014.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

After filling in another online Visa Application and completing it three weeks ago, I logged in again today to 'view my application' and can't access it.

The only option I can click on is 'delete application', and I can't even view the application to copy the answers and information into a new application.

For the last 18 months at least, we're informed "This is the new UK visa application website. We are testing it."

Obviously in no hurry to get the piece of crap working as it should then.

    Hi Christopher,

I was self employed when my wife applied for her spousal visa in 2008.
I provided personal and business bank statements to support her application.

She was successful and has been in the UK for many years now.

There is a time limit from when you initially set up an account but I cannot remember what it is :)

Best for Chris to just delete or open a new account.

I always believed that if the application wasn't accessed for a certain number of weeks it would be de-activated which is why I logged in regularly to update/check information.

It transpires that the application is only active for 120 days after starting the application, so if anyone here has an application refused they should wait until they know when the second application will be ready to submit before starting it.

Why it's not even possible to access the de-activated application to transfer the answers to a new one is illogical, but I'm sure we've all experienced how nothing is intuitive or straightforward when applying for a visa.
