Lol....I spent the first 5 years of my life in Glasgow (right beside the Bar-L actually) but I'm an East coast boy really. I work in Edinburgh and live a few miles south.

I'm "salt n sauce" - you'll be "salt n vinigar" (Ask your chap to explain!!:D)

Yes - the weather. Sorry about that, lol!

All the best to both of you.

I'm 56 and still trying to understand the Glaswegian accent, a few pints of beer on board and I do not have the faintest idea what they are talking about, I just smile and laugh when they do and hope for the best :)

Good luck with the accent, my wife's niece has lived near Edinburgh for about 15 years since she was a child and she talks with a thick Scottish accent, I love to hear a Filipina with a Scottish accent, just love it :)

I can understand my husband most of the time. But after 6 pints of beer, it becomes a challenge. We have non-verbal agreement that after 4 continuous pints (and of course he plans to have more) he needs to take a break otherwise, or i wont be able to understand any word.

I fully understand you @Maley you have certainly arrived in Scotland :)

Nod and smile, nod and smile

I love a refined Scottish accent, sounds quite posh.

I really should defend my fellow countrymen for this outrageous slur on our nation's reputation as a bunch of incoherent dipsomaniacs!

A small dry sherry before vespers is the most that your average Scot imbibes!

Good words Gerry, you're going to have our Filipino friends reaching for the Oxford dictionary :)

Have you been on the Irn Bru and Buckfast this morning :)

Haha Timmers - good with words but can't read the rules on applications it seems!

Irn Bru is too sweet for my palate - although many Scots love it and swear by it as a hangover antidote.

I've tried Buckfast - made by English friars of course - way too medicinal for me. One of my daughter's male friends love the stuff but it's basically vile!

I would say the tips would have to be recorded as income and tax and NI paid on them

I agree, what a bummer just being £100 shy of the mark.

If I was your husband I would be asking my employer to do me a favour and to give me £100 pa pay rise, they could always retract it once you have the visa.

If he works for a small company then there is a possibility they will do this, if he works for a large company then I doubt they will.

If he doesn't ask you'll never know, certainly worth smoothing up to the boss :)
