    Need some help please.
My girlfriend is due to fly to the UK on 6th December from Manila. She is trying to get a good price on a return ticket on line using an internet cafe as she has bad reception at home,Someone told her to book it the day before departure to get a promotional offer,is this a good idea ? The flight prices given all seem to have a charge after purchase. Can anyone suggest the best way to get a good deal .

I personally wouldn’t recommend booking a long haul flight the day before you’re meant to fly. I seriously doubt you’d save any money, in fact you may end up paying more. Have you tried searching the day before a specific flight to see if this bears out in reality?

Use Kayak or similar and start searching up to 6 months before flying. Subscribe to the main airlines (Cathay, Emirates etc) email system to be informed of any upcoming deals.

What additional charge? If they are bumping prices just prior to paying, sounds like the site isn’t so reputable.

Evidently 3 days before the flight is the best price. Also, always book on a Tuesday and never on a Friday. Last tip, weak pink when booking.

I do know that booking flights at the last minute in the UK can save you a lot of money (done it myself often)... as I understand it Phils works in reverse to the UK so booking a flight at the last minute might actually cost you more!

Package holidays and charter flights might have competitive, last-minute deals. Do not count on scheduled airlines (which includes virtually all of the ones going to the Philippines) doing the same. It's likely to be much higher priced.

If you are miles rich, last minute availability can be very good.

Yes but I had read somewhere that they check the bank card used to pay for the flight at the airport,so decided not to .

I sent my girl a photocopy of my bank card in case off awkward questions, but she has never been asked once.
