Hi all, It's been a while since I donned these forums but I was wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation as I currently am. My Filipina fiance has been granted two General Visit visas over the last couple of years (after we had the first one refused). We would like her to visit later this year but with her 10 year old son as well. My question is: Does he need his own General Visit visa? I understand "Child visit visas" have now gone but on the Visa4UK site you can still select it as an option (see attached picture too): Reason for Visit Visit Visa Type Child My next question is for my fiance's application: Under "Travel Information" it asks "Are you travelling with anyone". I put yes and then fill in her child's details which then ask "Do they have a valid visa for the UK?" to which obviously I need to put "No". So I'm kind of confused what I need to put where. Can he come in under her Visa? I wish the rules and guidelines were clearer for Visa applications in the UK - they're terrible Thanks for anyone's help/advice, Jon.
I believe the child and the mother will have 2 separate visit visa application. The child will have to list his mother as travel companion so that this will be reflected on his visa (once issued). He cannot travel if the person on his visa will not be traveling with him.
4. If you're under 18 You can apply for a standard visitor visa if you’re under 18 and: you’ve made suitable arrangements for your travel and stay in the UK you have consent from your parent or guardian to travel to the UK you’re able to pay for your return or onward journey you have enough money to support yourself without working or getting help from public funds, or you have family and friends that can support you Travelling alone You can travel to the UK without an adult (someone over the age of 18). Your parent or guardian will need to provide their: written consent for you to travel to the UK full contact details They’ll also need to provide proof that you have somewhere suitable to live during your stay in the UK, including: the name and date of birth of the person that you will be staying with an address where you will be living details of your relationship to the person who’ll be looking after you consent in writing so they can look after you during your stay in the UK Travelling with an adult When travelling to the UK with an adult (someone over the age of 18), you’ll need to identify them in your visa application. If the person you’re travelling with isn’t your parent, you’ll need to provide specific information about them in your application. Their name will appear on your visa, and you’ll be refused entry to the UK if you arrive in the UK without them. You can identify up to 2 adults in your visa application, and your visa will only be valid if you travel with at least one of them. The adult can apply for a visa at the same time, but you must each complete separate applications.
Hi Brom, thanks for your reply. After doing some more research I found someone's answer to my next question of "what do I put for the "Visa Held?" " question: Re: Applying for Parents Visa - One question about form.. by chattokhan » Tue Apr 19, 2016 8:25 am You need to answer it "No". When I applied my parents' visa I had mention that in the covering letter. Good luck. So I'll just put it all in the covering letter and put "No" for "Visa Held" on both their applications when saying who they're travelling with. I think that's it!
One last question (I hope!) I've nearly finished with the application for my fiance but I'm wondering how her son's application will work. When you have 2 applications (under the same account) can you book them both in for the same time? Is there a way of linking the applications when applying for multiple people?
@Scotschap16 can help you with that. I believe you cannot link them but if you book for your fiance you can book the next possible time for her son as well. For example if you book her for 10:00 AM you can book the son for the next appointment at 10:10 AM.
Hi Brom, thanks again as always. That makes sense, I'll have to be quick when booking to get them one after another - just in case! Do you know if the child would need covering letters, invitation letters and supporting documents along with my fiance? I'm hoping she can just tell the person that she has 2 visas to apply for and just hand over all the documents in one go...
Since it's a separate applications then the child will have separate documents. 2 applications, 2 fees, 2 appointments, 2 documents.
