I got married in Hong Kong (to a Filipina) in 1997 - we got divorced in 2012 but that was not because we married in HK!

Mark ("Markham") and Mae married in HK more recently and will have up to date information.

I hope to get married in Hong Kong again soon.

You can marry in church or at the register office in City Hall.

Getting married in Hong Kong is quick, easy and relatively inexpensive but perhaps confusingly, the Registry is a function of Hong Kong's Immigration Department.

It is all explained on these pages:

You will require forms MR21B, MR60 and MR(E)70. MR21B has to be completed and submitted - together with copies of required documentation plus Banker's Draft for the fee - preferably by secure courier (DHL/FedEx) before you can make any appointments.

In addition to the forms, you will need to submit notarised copies of both Passports and copies of your respective Cenomar/CNIs. Retain the original Cenormar/CNI as you will be required to present them and your Passports at the Immigration Office.

You must attend an appointment with the Registrar 3 clear working days before the day you get married. You must have two witnesses present at the marriage ceremony who need not be Hong Kong residents.

I will just point out the advantage to a Filipina of marrying in Hong Kong - you don't need a visa, you only need to spend three days, the bureaucracy works properly and above all if you divorce you will be free to re-marry, which is not the case if you marry in the Philippines.

this subject is of interest to me too.

my parter's annulment is dragging on and on----but she already got a divorce in the UK 2 years ago. ( not recognised in the philis )

i think if the situation isnt finalised by the new year--we will just go ahead and get married in HK--and hope the UKVI will accept the marriage as valid. if they wont--we are stuffed.

A Hong Kong marriage should be valid in the UK; HK will accept the UK divorce. It's what I would do, and just forget the anullment

she is now 9 months into the annulment---and had the last ( ?? )--court hearing today---and was advised the decision will take 3 months. it could have been sooner--had the judge bothered to attend--on 3 occasions !!. we had hoped to be together by the new year.
    ---2015 that is.

That's the absolute minimum, Andrew and that only gets the paperwork sorted; you've then to actually commit the dastardly deed and, one presumes, toast the occasion with some suitable embibement - Babycham or half a lager, something like that. To have that marriage recognised in the Philippines, you'll need a couple more working days.

Yep, both Hong Kong and The UK are signatories of the relevant Hague Convention (international recognition of official documents) so each accepts the other's.

My husband and I got married in HongKong in 2013 with no worries. Credit goes to the owner of this link

On her blog the procedures are simplified and clear to follow.
There must be two witnesses at the ceremony otherwise they will not even entertain you. If you don't know anyone in HongKong, ask your friends to fly with you to HK, flights from PI do not cost that much.
After the wedding go straight to Phil Embassy to report your marriage so you will have a NSO record when you need them later on.

    Hi Methergate
Maybe you can advise me, since you have experience about this. I married my Filipino wife 5 years ago in Hong Kong. Neither of us was or is resident in HK. I am a US citizen. We live apart in our own countries respectively, but my wife wants us to divorce. But is it possible for us to divorce in HK? It seems that one of us has to be resident or domicile in HK for us to divorce there? If not, could we divorce in the Philippines?

I got married in Hong Kong Last May this year and it's pretty easy. You can book it online and the fee is very cheap. You will need to pay $354 hkd upfront an then the rest is on your wedding day which is only around $700hkd more. You just have to book 14 days before your intended marriage and then set the date of your wedding. Just need to bring 2 witnesses, it does not matter if your witnesses are hong Kong residents. All you need to bring on your wedding is your passport.
