The rum sounds tasty, I once worked for the Barceló Ron company in the Dominican Republic and was offered a tour around the plant which I declined, I regret that decision as I bet its really interesting seeing how rum is made. Pineapples are amongst my favourite fruits, I once had one straight out of the field in Columbia and I will never forget the amount of juice that came out of the pineapple, I was stood in a puddle of juice after eating it. I've only once ever eaten lobster and that was in Haiti, if I remember rightly they poured brandy over it and set fire to it.

Food has to be the best part of travelling, its making me hungry writing about it but I do have a couple of mint Magnums in the freezer to fall back on :)

You not had lobster on the rig, Timmers?
Lots of it in Sweden too - freshwater variety. The Swedes were going mental cos our (UK) pollution was being blown eastwards and upsetting the fine ecological balance that the lobsters favoured.

That's a lovely bike, that would be a welcome sight on any street of the world, wouldn't mind being a passenger in that for five or ten minutes.

Never had lobster on a rig, I thought that would be a little over budget :).

I'm surprised the Swedes were complaining about our UK pollution being washed their way, I thought all that was years behind us, obviously I'm wrong.

Its making me hungry now talking about lobster but I think I'm having a tin of beans and sausage on toast, followed by a tin of Ambrosia rice pudding, and finally a mint Magnum.

I hate making my own tea, hope that damn Fiancée visa is granted and soon :D

The house I just moved from was only 200 yards from my mothers house so I ate there nearly every night, now I don't have that luxury and I'm starting to suffer.

The only upside is that I have lost a stone in weight in three months.

Some other member may vouch for my culinary expertise..........
Which reminds me to ask about a Christening..........

I absolutely adore pottering about the kitchen preparing things.

Lat November I bought a proper ice cream maker, and it not one of those things, that one has to place in the freezer for hours before using.
So, once or twice a month I make real ice cream, italian style.............

That sounds really good and tasty, you're lucky you are blessed with a culinary talent, maybe your Italian blood gives you an advantage, or is it I'm just too lazy to knuckle down and make some tasty nourishing food :)

The owner and his wife were raising money for charity by allowing people to be photographed on the trike. Unfortunately, my disability is such that I could not get inside, so I just held the handlebars whilst standing next to the trike. The trike certainly garnered a lot of attention and is in immaculate condition. It has a top speed of 55mph but they cruise at 45mph most of the time. It is insured for two people only.

It does look a comfortable ride.

Howerd, I see your aviator is Stewie, my favourite character in Family Guy, are you a fan of the show like myself?

I had no idea who the avatar was - the website just seems to have chosen it for me! I have no TV licence so I did not bother to replace the TV when it got lost in the floods.

I cant say I had lobster many times on the rigs. Maybe half a dozen times over the years.

Its always been a bit of a myth that rig food is fantastic. Having said that, in some cases it can be very good. But not all. First time I had lobster was in Angola many years ago, probably around 1983. I bet subseastu eats it all the time on those fancy drillships.

You are right about the myth of rig food being good, there is always plenty to eat but there is always a difference in quality, at the end of the day all rigs work on x amount of £s per head, and some companies spend more than others of course.

Yeah, I bet young Stu gets some good food, I've always had a good meal aboard a ship but I bet we can be told otherwise.

I bet he has a big TV in his room too, single room I bet, no sharing like us cabin boys :)
