The British museum has removed a bust of it's founder Sir Hartweg Sloane due to his connections with the slave trade.
Sloane bequeathed some 700 plus personnel possessions to the country on his death and the British Museum was founded to evolve into the grand establishment it's is today.
Sloane square was named after him, perhaps soon to be renamed " wetness square" (Boris terminology)

I cannot understand what brings people to deny their own heritage and hate their common Country history to the point that instead of wanting to learn from it, they would rather "cancel" it altogether...

    As if.... It never existed......

It seems we've reached a state of paranoia in this country now, anything or anyone from the past with links to the 'Empire' or the slave trade are seen as irrelevant and to be erased from history or removed from public view - 1984 style. That's dangerous. You start erasing history, you'll end up repeating it.
