Hello to those who remember me and hello to everyone else too. Well its been more than 2 1/2 years since I last graced these forums with my presence, I hope your all doing well in spite of these difficult times.

I have been meaning to come back here but things have bee a little busy here in Mindanao so just never seemed to find the time.

It certainly has been a learning curve living here in the Philippines and if I have learned one thing about Filipinos and Filipino mentality its this :- Give them an inch and they will take a mile.

If you agree to do something for them then you must state the details down to the bone otherwise they will manipulate the agreement and then when you complain and say NO MORE you become the bad guy.

    A for instance

When I bought this land and started construction on the house the first thing we did was get a well dug and a water pump fitted. Then I realized that one or two of the neighbours did not have access to clean water and they asked would it be OK for them to fill containers from our well, off course I would never stop anyone from getting clean drinking water and so agreed.

This arrangement went on for a few weeks then I found them washing clothes, taking baths, washing motorbikes, all in the confines of our garden next to the water pump. I came out one morning and it looked like the river Ganges so many people washing and cleaning things. So I said enough, NO MORE now Im the bad guy hehehe

Other than that there's loads I could go on about, customer service is a joke, things never happen on time, beaurocracy is a nightmare, there's a form to fill in for just about everything.

Anyway the sun shines every day so ist not all bad, but if anyone has any questions about living here I more than qualified to answer.

    Take care 42111770_299666537498692_3234764832414629888_n.jpg

Nice place Jim, coping well really and I feel that the care given by the local Barangay here is second to none. I went to the Barangy to register with them they did a small medical on me, height, weight, BP etc and recorded all the details in case I'm struck down with the plague hehehe.

I don't believe that a Filipino would get the same care and attention in the UK.

At the moment Koronadal City has gone into lockdown and so has General Santos and Polomolok so we are trapped right in the bloody middle :(

    How about you?

I heard it's strict on Mindanao, I'm doing okay here. Our Barangay captain is useless she won't listen, took me two months to get a pass. The checkpoints are still there but no one gets stopped, just ride straight through.
Same with guards on the mall doors, we don't bother to show our pass no more. The covid 19 has gone here, I hope no more cases.
I see you are a City fan. Man City I hope.

Is there any other City ;)

Yes it is fairly strict, face masks, face shields, hand wash stations at all the Malls and security is tight at the road checkpoints no pass no travel. Simple as that.

We could not even ride two on Motorcycle until it was pointed out that many pillion passengers are wives girlfriends or family members, then we had the nonsense of the barrier between both riders.

I think the problem is here in the Philippines they think of things but don't think if it really is a good idea before implementing it.
