I am just glad I found this forum. Maybe this forum is a god-sent to all of us who are in dire need of ideas, information with regards to British-Filipino issues. My fiance and I are overwhelmed by the immensity of the tasks ahead of us. We have so many questions that need to be raised regarding visas and stuff. In my quest to find answers to our ever piling questions, I happened to breeze by this forum. I have read a few conversation threads here and they clarified some of my doubts. I haven't really checked everything in here but will sure do. I just got engaged a month ago while I was in the UK visiting my fiance. I was just over the moon; feeling so loved and very much a woman (lol). Who wouldn't feel ecstatic, eh? Imagine your man just wants you to wear his ring and brand you his. But when the moment we both remembered/realized that we have to go through so much things, i.e. visa processing, other legal matters, waiting time, etc., we felt like a deflating balloon. Anyway, I will be checking out topics in hopes of finding answers to my queries. I am also planning on posting some of my questions in here. Nice "meeting" all of you here, guys!
Welcome young lady, don't worry about the visa process, it does get easier to understand once you have done a little research.
to the forum! I was like you at first -- overwhelmed with the process and requirements. But you will son overcome it when you get to familiar the whole thing. If you have questions, just ask away, a lot of members will help you out.
One day, sitting by the fire, while knitting wollen socks and jumpers, you will ask yourself.... what on earth was all the fuss was about??? welcome to the forum,
hi--welcome to the forum getting a fiancee ( known as settlement / marriage ) visa is actually quite straightforward. most of the paperwork and conditions relates to your future husband ( known as your sponsor ) he will need to meet financial requirements---simplest is a gross income of £18,600 if no kids involved. he will need to have suitable accommodation. you must both be free to marry. you will need to get a TB test you will need to pass an english test ( easy ) best thing is to open an online a/c with UKVI--and register and study the online form. https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/home/welcome feel free to ask any questions--these and the answers will also help many other readers browsing the forum oh---and try to get your fiance to join as well.
Thank you so much for making me feel welcomed, Timmers. You're right. The best way to go to a battle is to prepare, like know every minute detail regarding the 'opponent'.
Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum. Don't worry about the process, you won't be alone. We'll be with you all the way
