A travel (medical) insurance policy issued in the UK won't be valid for the UK and one issued in the Philippines is likely to require that before any treatment is given, permission has to be sought from the insurer - that can be both highly inconvenient and not without expense. Add to that, a policy that covers a 6 month trip abroad may not be available. I suggest that you look at comprehensive provided by BUPA/PPP.
