    Hello,
I am presently going though divorce. This should be completed in August 2017 at the latest.
I have met a wonderful Filipino lady. She currently lives in Dubai. I have been over to meet her twice, staying for 4 nights at a time. We are keeping all evidence of hotel bills, places we have visited etc. We communicate several times a day either using Messenger, Whatsapp or Skype.

We are going to Philippines in June for holiday and meet more of her family.

I earn well over £ 18'600. Per year so I don't see this as a problem.

My concern is related to apply for Fiancé visa. Is it better to apply in Dubai or Philippines as she has been living in Dubai for several years?

    Thank you in advance,

    John

Doesn't really matter where she applies. If all documents are ready and she is in Dubai then she can apply there or if she is in the Philippines she can apply there too. Your choice really.

I just checked the processing times in Dubai and it's longer compared to that of the Philippines, so if you won't go for priority processing it is better to apply in the Philippines. :)

Thanks, priority processing looks like the way to go then.

John, just be careful that the evidence that you are keeping of nights spent together in hotels in Dubai do not fall into the wrong hands. As I am sure you know, that is strictly forbidden here in Dubai. The authorities are not likely to come investigating, unless that is, a complaint is made against you. This could be from a jealous friend or anybody else just looking to make trouble for you. Be careful.

A very good point, I was always a little nervous staying with my then girlfriend there just in case one of her neighbours reported us.

You never know you really don't.

Thank you for the advise. Would you recommend that my partner applies in Dubai for 'fiancé visa' ( I believe correct term is 'Marrage settlement visa'). As Brom 27 suggested, I would need to do this as a Priority? Would be more expensive if we did this in Philippines as she would have to go there to do this?

As she lives close by the hotel we stayed at. There is no reason why I can not put that I stayed in the hotel alone? It was all in my name, but true the hotel will have a copy of her records also.

If Dubai is convenient then go for it, wherever you apply from the application is the same.

So if you apply in Dubai it's worth going for the priority since standard processing takes up to 120 working days compared to 60 days in the Philippines. :)

    Hello Gary,
I am not understanding what you mean? If the divorce is finalised what will the problem be?

    Regards,
    John

im just thinking about the time of application, will it be before your divorce is finalized in august or during your visit in the philippines in june. maybe t's worth checking if the embassy will ask for legal documents so as not to question your right or intent to marry, coz that's what i am thinking when you say fiance` visa. but if it is just a standard visitor visa, i dont think that is an issue.

Good point from @Gary T. Just take that into consideration when you apply for it.

You will be required to produce finalized divorce document (dont know the name of the official dox) before you can sponsor her for a fiance visa.

My brother-in-law is undergoing divorce and its been more than 2 yrs now. Last christmas, he mentioned it should be finalized by Feb 2017 but its now mid-March and it looks like the ex-wife isnt keen on signing the papers for some reasons.

We will not apply for Fiancé visa until my divorce is finalised. But we are compiling the evidence in preparation for Fiancé visa.

The decision to divorced is a mutual agreement, I don't have any concerns about the final papers being signed.

    Dicree Absolute is now completed.
Next stage Fiancé visa. I see some one in this sight is doing theee application and sending the information to Sheffield, Yorkshire. Is this a better approach, rather then completing the referral in Dubai where my partner lives?
What are the pros and cons in relationship to processing the application in the UK?
Is there a place in the South of England where this can be processed, as I live in Farnborough, Hampshire.

If she lives in Dubai she will submit all her documents in there. As what I said on my reply to you last night only those who live in the Philippines will send the supporting documents in Sheffield.
