    Hi all
Me and the mrs have just finished her spouse application and just starting on my step daughters.Im just planning on putting the same things in it as my wife's plus a few things specific to her...birth certificate, passport,TB certificate and some pics of us together and her medical/education records...does that make sense and seem ok?
    Thanks for the help

I'm not sure if medical/education records will be of any relevance to the childs application.

You need to include a proof of sole responsibility as well for thr child. Proof that the father is no longer responsible for her.

With the rest, she will have the same docs with the mother like the financial and accommodation requirements. :)

Cheers for that Brom, the records I mentioned are also letters from her doctor and teachers explaining that it's my wife who has always paid and such..we had a notarised letter from her biological father saying he had no responsibility for her which will go in the application also..
Thanks for putting my mind at rest a little Brom.

You got things sorted then. :)

If the father's number is on the letter it's more likely that the ECO will give him a phone call. Make sure he mentions that he is okay with the child leaving and he's got nothing to do with them already, I mean he is not supporting them anymore and things like that.

Coz that's what happened to my friend. She got a letter from the ex that the child will leave for the UK and he is okay with it but when the ECO called him he said that he is still seeing the kids and supporting them a bit. Few weeks later she got refusal letter for her kids application which was very unfortunate.

    So best of luck :)

Cheers mate..our daughter is only just 6 and he's not had any contact for the last 5 years or so.He has a wife and another kid now.The notarised letter was written by one solicitor and filed by another..I'm not sure if his phone number was on there but his address and ID number is there..it says he willingly and freely abdicates his parental authority...He and my wife were never married so I'm hoping this will be ok..another thing also is because I only have 1 set of original documents would I put those in my wife's application but with a cover letter saying that they are for both applications..obviously copies will be put in both applications....I'm not usually a stressful person but this is testing me haha

Put main set in wife's, copies in child's and on the front of child's folder write your wife's name and application number as well as childs

Make sure you have photos of you with the child and with mum etc you need to establish that the child knows you.

ha--fat chance for us then. my wife has an 11 year old she want to bring over. she cant be sponsor---only had her first FLR 13 months now. so i'm the sponsor.

ive never met him--ive never been over there. so no photos of us together. the child certainly does not know me--at all.

hindsight is a fine thing--when she applied for her fiancee visa i suppose she should have applied for the boy as well------but there would still be no photos of him and i together ! back then i thought she would have to sponsor him--so would need 6 months payslips etc.

Even on video chat before you've not met the kid? Screenshots of it would've been okay, at least, in some senses.
