That's fine Via, you can apply for a visit visa up to three months before you travel. I'd apply early if you can to give yourself more time knowing if you got the visa.

I applied standard visit visa last 20th of June here in Malaysia.

so--about 20 day turnaround then. was it your first visa app? or had you been refused before ?

No its only 15 working days.
My first app is student visa.
No never refused before.
