    Welcome aboard :welcome:

I let you in last night, we are rejecting such huge numbers of spam signups from all over the world just now, but mostly Russia and the USA, that it is a pleasure to see a real user want to sign up :)

    Cheers!

I’m from here, my wife is from bohol. She’s been here 5 years now. Because we can’t go over there for probably quite some time now, COVID and all, we’re both starting to get a bit homesick for the Philippines. I guess a lot of people are in that boat right now?

I last saw my kids on December 31st 2019, and I currently have no idea when I will be with them again as I can't afford quarantine hotels at both ends even though I am now fully vaccinated.

    My son and my daughter:

And the newest member of our family, it's Janna's birthday soon and she wanted a pet so I sent enough to let them get a lovely wee kitten the other day.

Beautiful family mate. It must be hard going right now for all involved not seeing each other for so long.

    Are you an OFW here?

Do you plan to bring them over here or settle in the Philippines?

It’s not just the costs involved. Near 2 weeks quarantine when you get to the Philippines, then same back in uk, plus say 3 weeks for a decent visit... who can get 7 weeks leave from work in one go?

I’m lucky mine are both here with us. My son is 5 and asks for Lola a lot, I miss seeing my wife’s brothers too. We’re hoping eventually to settle over there maybe 5 - 10 years from now.

I'm a Scot, can't get them here because their mother was previously married to a Korean, she was divorced in the mid 1990s but never completed the registration of the divorce in the Philippines, over the last 17 years our relationship deteriorated to the point where she's gone back in Korea, kids live with granny and auntie and I pay for everything including the house we rent.

I am on course to retire between 2 to 4 years from now, if it is two years I will leave the UK and live with the kids, if 4 years I will buy a flat in Scotland for cash and spend 9 months a year in the Philippines with the kids, my daughter is a British citizen (literally British-Filipino) but has never been here and I want her to have a base in Scotland to explore her options here in the future.

If I only had to endure home quarantine on return from the Phils that would be easy I would just work at home for a fortnight, the company would allow that as I am pretty senior but it is the £1750 hotel fee that for me is the killer all spare money that I have goes to pension investment at the moment and I just can't afford the flights and the tests and the quarantine hotel.

Good that your kids are here with you and yeah I miss the rest of my extended family too.

    Welcome!

Think we're all monitoring the progress with vaccination in the Philippines with hopes it goes amber / Green sooner rather than later

I know people don't trust the numbers coming out of the Philippines but within a week I expect the UK daily case count to be back up at over 5000 a day which is not that different to the Philippine case count and they have a larger population than us, it's selfish of me but I wish we were still allowed to isolate at home after returning to the UK in my case I live alone and would have no problem self isolating.

If travel is possible by December I plan to spend 4 weeks there.

I know this seems a bit of a digression but currently I am feeling a bit more comfortable about the idea of booking a foreign holiday for Christmas. Having said that I am getting a feeling of deja vu thinking that we won’t know till about September October whether we have nailed this effing pandemic sufficiently.

Yes I agree, I think it will be as late as October, vaccine immunity might wane, by then there should be enough data to tell if that is the case, availability of boosters could be limited to the very elderly at first making travel riskier for the rest of us.
