£460 return for my coming January flight, on Etihad, a very good airline.

That's very true but from what has been written, it would appear that the child was not fathered by her husband and therefore most likely will not qualify for a British Passport. She said:

Yes your child is indeed entitled to a British Passport; it was not clear from your earlier posts exactly what nationality the father possesses, hence my reply earlier.

Hopefully you already have a Philippine Passport for the child, you will need to make a certified copy of each and every page - including those that are blank - and send that together with certified copies of all your Ob/Gynae's notes and scans relating to the pregnancy; hospital notes; copies of the hospital's and PSA Birth Certificates; your Marriage Certificate(s) and photographs of you, your husband and the child as a group taken at regular intervals. You will also need to provide two Passport photos which conform to UK requirements published here. You should send all those documents to your husband who will be the one to make the application - and that application must be counter-signed by someone who fulfils these requirements.

    Good luck!

Hi Butterfly, I'm afraid I can't offer any solution to your predicament, but I wish you well and hope that you are able to sort it out.

i wouldnt fancy going that route with a wife and young child. the easiest is for the husband to take on an extra job. if he has saturday or sunday off---cant be too hard to knock together an extra £60 a week.

although i dont agree with this hard and fast earnings rule---i do concede UKVI really make it relatively easy to hit the target.

He could move himself and apply for her to join him shortly afterwards. I'm sure he could get to Malta and find work. Then it's his right to have his family join him. They could move back to the UK after six months to a year. I know it isn't the ideal situation, but it's certainly a method of circumventing the income requirement that is preventing them from being together.

Such a terrible state of affairs that it needs to be considered at all.

Did anybody see the documentary Exodus?? Easy to get a UK visa it seems for some. Travel illegally across Europe pay a geezer in Paris for a fake passport then fly to UK and ask for asylum. Granted. Makes my blood boil when I see the hardships torment and costs that a lot off good people on here have endured or are still enduring.

That would depend on what skills and qualifications he has. Malta has surprisingly low rate of unemployment and many of working age are OMWs working elsewhere in Europe or are studying at British universities. Now is not the time if you're in catering or tourism as the season officially ends today. There are opportunities for qualified carers and in building and allied trades if you have the skills and certificates (labourers need not apply).

Any chance with the online casino - is it Bet888? - as a Customer Service thingy?

There are a number of online betting companies based here but I wouldn't know any names or whether they're recruiting. I understand that several members of the Remote Gambling Association (= operators of online casinos) are well-known UK brands which apparently base their online operations here to circumvent UK tax and regulatory regimes. These are the people who've recently taken to including children's cartoons on their sites in the guise of family-friendliness but are actually cynical attempts to recruit more gamblers.

Incidentally operators that include "888" in their name appear to be all based in that other EU gambling haven, Gibraltar.

Yes it's worth a shot, nothing to lose by trying. At least they would be together in Malta or their chosen EU country, whilst they figure something out.
