I am currently now on tier 5 visa which allows me to work as a volunteer but nowadays a lot of foreign nationals get their visas denied with this visa type because the home office thinks we arre overstaying here as a volunteer.

try asking at your local register office--they might refer you to your designated register office for clarification.
i think--you could get married within the duration of your current visa---what happens visa-wise after your current one expires--i dont know. my guess is you would have to go back home and apply for a settlement-spouse visa like everyone else.

Yes as bigmac says, you cant switch visas. In order to apply for fiance or spousal you will have to return home.

Fiancé visa is an entry clearance visa and it is only applied from your home country I don’t think you can apply for fiancé visa here in the UK at all. Never heard of someone applying for fiancé visa in the UK, unless someone can tell a different story.

Or can’t you get married now on your current visa and apply for FLR(M) after that? I think that would be more feasible than getting a fiancé visa from within the UK.

i think there was a member on here who did get married here on a work or volunteer visa...but what happened after that i cant remember.

my wife's sister was here on a student visa ( pre 2012 ) and got married. she inadvertently overstayed--but was allowed to stay and get ILR.

WOW that is something to be positive about

I just think getting a Fiancee visa in the Philippines take longer and cost more than the uk

In the uk you can opt out for a premier service together with the visa fee for only £1500 more or less and it takes only 24hrs to get the results. But in the Philippines it takes a while to get the visa and only the visa itself cost 1,400
Something not included the 500 priority visa. Which is 30 days and the normal visa takes 12 wks.

We are planning a traditional wedding not just any other civil wedding, so we opt to get marrried in the late summer

Its to short notice for my family and relatives to know we are getting married soon.

So we need a visa that cannot ruin our wedding plans in august here in the uk

    Its very important for us.

ive never heard of a 24 hour settlement visa decision. settlement visas--which cannot be applied for from in the UK----are now taking 60 to 90 working days: so expect 3 to 5 months for a decision.

a fiancee visa--known as settlement: marriage will cost about £1500 fee, and the sponsor has to meet specific fiancial and accommodation requirements. the extra cost for priority service ( was £500) merely puts the application at the front of the queue.
if you do apply--and get--one--you have to marry within 6 months and apply for Further Leave to Remain ( FLR )--costs another £1000 plus £500 for the first IHS surcharge.

this is where you are getting confused--you can apply for a same day decision for FLR--in person--at various UKVI offices in the UK. yet another £500. ( may have gone up a bit since we did it )

so you need to budget from £3000 to £4000 for fiancee visa fees. my figures are approx--should be slightly less.

Thank you so much for this it sheds a bit of light

This is what i am worried of it takes 5months maximum to wait in the Philippines

Heres the link about premium service in the uk and its eligibility https://www.gov.uk/ukvi-premium-service-centres/eligibility

    And the processing timhttps://www.gov.uk/ukvi-premium-service-centres/getting-a-decision
    as far as i know
My friend did this last two yrs she got married and then got the visa on the same of application
But for me everything is just last to minute preparation now i should have known this from the day he proposed to me we have gotten more wiser with the things we have to pay

We are just caught up with time especially my visa expire on first week of april. And we have already book our wedding venue and suppliers here in the uk for august

I dont really want to miss my wedding day nor do we really want to pay double the price!

yes--those links to that site is for premium same day service for FLR and ILR applications--in other words--after you have come to the UK on a spouse or fiancee settlement visa.

if i were you--i would get yourself back to the philippines ASAP and apply for the fiancee visa--expect to wait 3 to 4 months for the decision. as for the price--ive mentoned it already. marriage involving a non EEA applicant is a very expensive process. does your fiance meet the financial requirement ?

I think i might as well! Tomorrow we are going to contact a visa consultant or a solicitor and see what they have to say

He is eligible for his financial. He has more than the average requirement
But we are quite hesitant to get our apartment or accommodation for the two of us this year.most of our money has already went to our wedding....

The ILTS test looks very hard and I am BRITISH, what is the expected pass number to apply for settlement and does a low score affect settlement visa , and secondly if you get the settlement visa how soon after you get it do you have to leave the phillipines, this is for my wife as we are applying soon after the ilts next week and T/B xray.

The IELTS test is not hard at all. A 5 year old British child can easily pass it. It is very basic and doesn't require higher order thinking skills. If your wife is not confident enough just let her practice with the samples they provide on the site. There is only two remarks for the test which is PASS or FAIL and only assess the SPEAKING and LISTENING skills of the applicant.

For a spouse visa you will be given 30 days to leave the Philippines and get here in the UK then you should get your BRP within 10 days of your arrival in the UK.

Its not pass or fail its rated from 1/9 on given tasks, there are two essays to be written one of 150 words and the second one 250 words ,I have seen examples one was write about why young people don't read news papers etc 250 words and the other ones I have seen include graphs and diagrams and you have to write 150 words about them . not easy.

You must be looking at the wrong test, it’s pass or fail. Speaking and listening only.

She has the speaking listening test one day then the rest within 3 days that was what we asked for have the rules changed?

She’s got a different test. Specific test for spouse visa is IELTS Life Skills A1. Take note of the LIFE SKILLS. That only covers SPEAKING AND LISTENING and the test is only done within one day and doesn’t take more than an hour. If she’s taken the GENERAL TRAINING or whatever you can use that when applying for the visa so let her continue if she started it already. As long as she pass that then that’s fine.

    HELLO anyone,

here again to ask questions, regarding with applying the spouse visa. I am now currently in the UK in a different immigration category (Tier 5 charity visa) I might opt to apply or switch to a spouse visa. My concern is my current visa will expire on the 6th of april 2018

but according to the home office website -
When you can apply to extend or switch
The earliest you can apply is 28 days before your current permission to stay in the UK expires.

does it mean i have to apply around march 9 for the spouse visa.? is it something worth doing or taking risk for

I am very concern with the little time we have left. I did not know that giving the notice of marriage also take 28 days here in the uk unlike the Philippines it only take 10 days. we are caught off guard.

    Kind regards,
    VEN

A few posts earlier I was asking about the ILTS tests I have wrongly put my wife in the ILTS test for academic she has now taken all four tests and the results will be in two weeks, does anyone on here know what she needs to achieve on these tests for settlement visa or will she have to take just the reading and listening test for a visa that gives you a pass where as the academic test gives you marks between 1 and 9 on the results, if she gets a 6 or something like that or lower can i apply for the settlement visa or will i have to rebook the correct test before applying I don't want to lose 1500 pounds, I understand that the acedemic ILTs is for job purposes but I think it is also for visas, bit of a grey area???
