well I have bit the bullet and booked her in for another test this time B1 which is the right one for settlement visa can't afford to take any chances and get it refused because she has taken the academic one which is not recommended for settlement visa so anyone looking for this beware Test A and A1 are different, had to do this as only in the country until April 4th test is March 8th so just about time to apply before I have to go back U/K , should have application in by end of March.

Brom I know you know most things is a score of 4.5 average on the academic tests good enough to apply for settlement visa , we still have the B1 test next week as back up, also on showing bank statements i have read that a copy downloaded from my bank account is not correct , I was going to send a 6 or 7 Month statement downloaded showing all my transactions including Monthly salary, will that be ok many thanks.

I thought i was missing bank statements so gave them a call and requested the last 6 months worth of statements. They came in the post about 5 days later, free of charge, though some banks may charge.

Problem is I am in the Philippines so that is not possible I am back in U/K just after I will apply so maybe Sheffield will ask me for them after I have applied or is that risky.I can download 6 or & months of every transaction will they accept that?

A little snippet of information that I found out yesterday.

We are in the process of gathering our evidence in order to apply settlement visa shortly for my wife to come to the UK.

I went in to a local solicitors to enquire about signing the copy of my passport, to say that its a true copy, but they no longer sign things like this, not for Joe Public anyway.

This got stopped about 4 months ago to clamp down on criminal activity, money laundering and such like. They can still do it, but you have to be a client of theirs, so they can prove and document that you are who you say you are.

The lady was kind enough to point me in the direction of the Post Office, who do carry out this service.

It does seem strange that lawyers can no longer do it, but the post office can!!

So for £10.50, the post office will certify copies of up to 3 documents.

Just take in both the originals and copies to them.

As I found out today when I took my documents in to get certified, 3 documents actually means 3 pages!

My passport wasn't certified for my wifes application, nor my birth certificate however they did insist my divorce papers had the UK courts stamp on.

I am paperless too, however for the application i rang my bank and asked for 6 months of the latest statements they also did a covering letter stating that my account was usually paperless but they were happy to provide the statements

Just reading some of the posts on this forum, I decided better safe than sorry and get a signature on the copy of my passport.
I already got my divorce papers approved prior to my wedding last year, again just to be on the safe side.

Mattecube was that by email as I am in the Philippines now, I am getting ready to send application in the next couple of weeks will ring the bank on Monday to ask, had to come here as wife was on tourist visa , if the latest statement before sending has to be less than a Month you cannot get everything before you come what with IELT test T/B and we have a new apartment now here so i/ds had to be obtained one big headache for sure.

Nearly ready to go to VFS global to submit documents what I find confusing is they say one copy of all originals and a copy of all of it as well , when we go to Manila and submit documents is it down to us to send it all to Sheffield or do they do it for us in Manila? confusing whilst looking at different blog sites there is also some sort of electronic copying service at VFS gloabal for nearly 4000 pesos is that any good ??

Make a copy for all the documents you submit. You send your documets to Sheffield yourself, VFS won't arrange it for you. The photocopying service doesn't seem to exist anymore, someone said VFS stopped doing it.

You send both originals and copies. The bar code was only needed for scanning service in Manila.

Sometimes the browser affects that as well. What did you use when paying that?
