Thanks! Will do that. The contract does say "continuing by virtue of statute until notice is given"

Thank you for all the congratulatory messages and the flight advise! It felt to us like it was taking forever, but after counting the actual working days- less all the holidays and weekends- from my VFS appointment to the day we got the email it only actually took 38 working days so we're really thankful. Good luck with your visa @Roseanne J , we didn't have to supply a letter from a landlord- just from family, we did the process by ourselves - just relied on google, this forum, blogs, and the actual immigration website. There are many sample letters available online.

We ended up finding a great deal on a one way flight to England, considering it's peak season and ticket prices are high these days. Thanks all!

Hi! Where did you book your flight? I have my CFO now and will book my flight tonight for tomorrow.

Hi @kylie30, we checked prices on Kayak, Skyscanner, STA, Philippine Airlines and other airline websites. The best deal we found was through Kuwait Airways, although the Philippine Airlines ticket price wasn't much higher. In the end we chose Kuwait since the arrival time is more convenient than PAL's - 10 am vs 8 pm- my fiance wasn't keen on driving through Friday evening traffic.

Thank you for the reply. Is alright to book in Kayak? We are currently looking at Expedia but they are quite expensive now but it is cheaper in Kayak.

Hi! May I know what are the wedding preparations that you submitted? I could only think of the email correspondence and some reception venue quotations. We would be gathering the rest of it when I get to UK as I would like to do it personally with my fiancee. Thank you!

The email correspondence with the registrar should suffice and the venue quotation will be helpful as well. If you have engagement ring you can include that.

    I agree with @Brom27
When I applied my fiance visa last year, we only submitted:
    1. Email to/from registrar about provisional booking
    2. Provisional booking
    3. Engagement ring photo and receipt
    4. In my cover letter, I mentioned that the rest of our wedding plans will be done once I'm in the UK.

    Hope this helps!;)

Hi! Another question from the newbie :) Is utility bill a required document or is it optional? In the guide, utility bills can be an evidence of accommodation. However, my fiance is just moving in to the rented house next week, so it means it won't be until next month til we get our first bill. Will the tenancy agreement and council tax do? Also, is the utility bill a required attachment to the SU07 (agent is asking for it)? Thanks!

You will need either the council tax OR a utility bill. So one of them is fine. The SU07 is not a requirement, but I did submit one when I applied for fiance visa, not sure how that is related to the utility bill.

Yeah like others said just print the email from the registry office about the enquiry and the receipt and picture of the engagement ring. That's what I only gave them anyway

Thank you @Brom27 it will definitely save us time if we dont wait for the bills to come out.

Hi, anyone who experienced submitting birth certificate and cenomar that are not authenticated by DFA (no red ribbon)? They cannot be scanned through the feeder anyway (I gathered this is how the VFS scanner works) so I am considering submitting just the regular docs from NSO. Will that cause an issue?

We have no engagement ring as our settling down is more like planned/agreed between us, no proposal etc. not very romantic :) Hope the provisional booking from the city council and a couple of quotations from hotels will do?

Also, I am currently employed but I will quit work once we have the visa. Is that worth mentioning in the cover letter?

The NSO copy will suffice don't worry.

We don't have engagement ring as well when I applied so not a problem. We do have an email from Star Wedding Ring inquiring about our wedding ring. Apart from that we only have the booking from the registrar, which is the main thing so you should be okay.

Yes you can mention that in the letter, up to you what you put in there. :)

I was currently employed when I did my visa, so I included:
    - 6months payslips
    - employment letter

I also stated on the additional note section of VAF4A that I will resign from my current job once I have the visa. I got my visa November so I immediately submitted my resignation (I already told my employer my plans prior getting my visa) and rendered 1 month.

Thanks @tipipay. My employer did give me an employment certificate but it stated at the bottom "for UK tourist visa application". Don't think I can use that now.

Do you think I can replace this with my employment contract?

On my letter, nothing was stated though, it's just a general 'To Whom it May Concern'. Can you not request another letter from your HR to have it updated? I'm sure they will comply.

Our HR always asks for purpose for the certificate so I said its for UK visa application and they assumed its for a tourist visa. If I tell them I will be leaving soon they may not be supportive. So I am hoping my contract, ITR and payslips will be enough.

If that's the case, just supply whatever you have. The ECO is not bothered whether we're employed or not. The one that matters is your sponsor if he can meet all requirements stated in the form.

Our employment status is just a way of 'painting' a positive character. Don't worry about it. ;)
