My local registry office advised me to make a provisional booking for a wedding ceremony.....cost £40 and came with an official confirmation and receipt. Also included one change of date at no extra cost.

Thats the thing. Some local registrar are very strict with this and some are not (i know one case where the provisional booking were done by the guy's friend). And since you said his local registrar wont allow him to book provisionally, he needs to find a different registrar (thats the only solution). A provisional booking is one strong proof of intent to marry in the eyes of the Home Office.

You can say you want to get married in a nearby place which has view etc. of course once you get the fiance visa you can get married anywhere.

    Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are currently gathering all our supporting documents and we were wondering if the sponsor needs to send in his actual passport along with its certified copies to Sheffield?

    Thank you.

    Sorry here's another question...

if my fiance is meeting the financial requirements using just savings, but those savings are stored in a different bank account than his general expenses, should he just provide bank statements for the bank with the savings, and not for the bank which includes his general expenses (i.e. rent, food, etc.)?

Only the accounts that show where his savings are that he will be using to meet the financial requirement.

he will need to show the source of the savings. in my case--it was money from house sale. it can be a gift--but not a loan--or from earnings--winnings--anything legal.

He got his saving through a gift from his mum. Do we also need to show how his mum got the money?

    Hello again,

Sorry but we need another clarification on something,we're in a pickle ... we submitted the online VAF4A application form on the 5th of August and set the biometric appointment on the 29th of August. My fiancée has had the savings required to meet the financial requirements since the 13th of February. This results in a situation in which my fiancée will not have had the savings in an account for 6 months before the date of application, IF the date of application is indeed the 5th. Originally we assumed it was when I went to get my biometrics done. Does anyone have any insight on this matter? Would it be prudent to cancel the application and reapply?

If we start counting from the 13th of February to the 5th of August (day we submitted the online application) it will be 5 months, 23 days
If its from 13th of February to the 29th of August (biometrics appointment) it will be 6 months, 16 days

We're starting to think that the embassy will consider the 13th of February to the 5th of August when it comes to the savings :( should we reapply?

Its a difficult call. Give them half a chance to find an excuse to reject an application and they will.

A friend of ours had their daughter's visa application rejected as she was very close to 18 ( but still under 18 at the time of the application). Our friends won their case eventually but with a lot of grief and worry along the way.

I would hope they give you the benefit of the doubt.
