    Hi All,

Does anyone know of a more up-to-date version of the original Post on this thread (Posted Sept. 2011 - now 59 pages long!!!)? Links would be useful...

At the rate this Government tries to plug holes in the system to apply for a Fiance(e) Visa, by changing the rules and inventing new 'hoops' to jump through, it's a wonder anyone ever gets a Visa!!!

Hi My fiance arrived in the UK 2 weeks ago. Her visa was granted 2 months before she arrived in the UK.

Does the 6 months start when she arrives in the UK or when the visa was issued (so in theory we have 4 months)?

    Thanks

My understanding - and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong - is 6 months from Date of Issue...

Do you know how long the marriage visa takes to process? Should i be married a month before the visa expires?

Don’t worry you can apply through premium service centres but will cost you £500 extra and you can get the result same day.

which can be well worth it if you want her to get a job straight away. otherwide it will take weeks to come through.

Oh, only £500 EXTRA!!! That's alright then, on top of the (ongoing) Visa application fees, NHS surcharge, IELTS charge, TB test charge...! We are so 'ripped off' on this 'p1ss poor' - soon to be ex-EU - insignificant, pin-prick island in the North Atlantic...!

oh--i know the pain alright, just gone through it again with wife's son's visa app.

the point is with the £500 same day thing--my wife got her BRP within a week--started work straight away--and earned 3 grand plus in the weeks it would have taken if we hadnt paid the £500--and waited.

My Fiancée arrives in England soon. Can I ask what insurance did other people used?
I think it better if I find her health cover for the time being prior to us getting married and applying for the next stage. Better then her getting travel insurance I mean.

If you mean health insurance when she gets to the UK, that's what the NHS Surcharge you pay, as part of the Visa application, is for.

If you're thinking of insurance for her one-way journey to the UK, maybe others can advise?

er--not quite. a fiancee visa does not pay the IHS surcharge--that becomes payable at the first FLR after the marriage has taken place--and before the 6 month visa expires. so the fiancee cannot have free NHS treatment during that visa period.

we had a member early this year whose fiancee became expectant ---and got a hefty medical invoice for pre natal care.

emegency treatment is still free--as is contraception advice and treatment.

So can any one recommend what insurance provider they have used when there Fiancée arrived?this is interesting as the BHS has the ability to charge people visiting the UK, but don’t often do this.

I don’t feel comfortable with out purchasing insurance cover form my Fiancée prior to her combing to the uk. Would be interesting to know what other people have done?

we got married asap. then applied for FLR same day service--with the first IHS payment paid then. so--she was without NHS cover for about 10 weeks
