As my Fiancée's Tourist/Visitor Visa was declined, we haven't had the luxury of living together for a trial period first - whether or not you agree that is 'proper' use of the 6-month Visitor Visa, that is the reality!
Therefore, we do not intend rushing into a wedding as soon as her feet land on UK soil, but want to live together for maybe half of the 6-month Fiancée Visa period first. We would still make many of the arrangements, just delay the date a few months.
So, any other advice on short-term health cover would be welcome. One potential problem I do see is - many health insurance policies don't give 'immediate' cover - you have to have had the policy for a certain time before it would pay out!

If this is the case, then would have to be travel insurance.

I might enquire about adding my Fiancée to my annual travel insurance policy - but I can guess what the answer will be!

    This raises an interesting question...

(Most) Brits would never think of travelling abroad without travel/health insurance, but I wonder how easy it is to get similar cover in the Philippines? Guess I'm about to find out!

Medical insurance policies won't cover pre-existing conditions for several months or years but will cover anything that crops-up after the policy is taken-out. Suggest you look at BUPA.

It's in the Phils you need to worry about proper health cover.

Every man, woman, and their dog will be taken in by our NHS. :like:

As long as you're not a British national who has the temerity to reside outside UK for 6 months or more.

You won't be left on the hospital doorstep bleeding to death... that's for sure, whether you're from Mars or Manchester.

In the Philippines, you may well be.

as i said earlier--emergency treatment is covered --as is contraception. how likely is any fit person likely to need non-emergency treatment in the few weeks of a fiancee visa ?

Anyone could 'fall ill' - not necessarily life-threatening but nevertheless needing to see a GP...

"...a few weeks" could be almost 6 months!

You're applying for FLR(M) after you get married. Documents are basically the same with fiancé visa just add marriage certificate then wedding photos and a few correspondence.

    Great information @ChrisMason -

Can you clarify... the 'Appointment Confirmation' (Document 1. Item 1), is that the appointment at VFS, in Dubai?

Hi everyone. I would be grateful for advice. I am about to post all fiance application documents (mine and his) to Sheffield. The address I have is VULCAN HOUSE, 6 MILLSANDS, SHEFFIELD S38NU (?) Also, my fiance applied at VFS Manila and they kept his passport and biometrics. These will not be in the packet I send to Sheffield. What is the process regarding the passport being stamped with a visa, assuming it is granted? Will there be any problems? Any tips for ensuring that the jobsworths at Sheffield match the packet with the VFS docs & passport? I have read some awful comments on the Sheffield Centre' website about the general unhelpfulness, failure to respond to emails and calls, and excessive delays. The whole process is ultra stressful, worrying if one small detail will be seized on to refuse the visa.

    Hi All,

I already posted this on another post but just very keen on getting answers for this.

A little background of myself is that I am a Filipino that has been naturalized as British last 2013.

My fiancé and I are planning to apply this January for a fiancé visa. However, I’m very worried about my overdraft which is almost £-500. This has been going on for a few months. The reason for this is that I have been saving up money for my fiancé’s visa fees and have been putting £500 every month to my savings account.

I have about £2,800 in that savings account and have just transferred £1000 back to my main account so now back in the positives.

I am also earning £24,000 per annum since Aug 2017. Prior to that it was £22,500. I have been working for 1 year and 5 months in the company.

    So my question is:
    1) Is having an overdraft, for say, about 5 months prior to the visa application be worrisome and might be a reason for refusal?

    2) some people that I know are saying that I have to have no overdrafts in my account for a minimum of 3 months or that my account should have at least £1500 - £2000 in my bank account t. Is this really true?

    3) Does my fiance need 50,000 pesos or something like that in his bank account?

Would appreciate you lovely people’s advice on this! Very stressed about it!

    Kind regards.
