I got the not straight forward email on day 59, but that's it. No further emails requesting docs, and no telephones calls.

not straightforward ? isnt that their standard cop out ? do you think your application was in any way " not straightforward " ?

why dont they simply say say " standard excuse number 5 " ? we would all be a lot happier.

crafty what visa are you after and do you know of any problems or anything you might have a problem with? when they escalated it did they say we will contact you in 15 working days? and since then have you not had anything from them and have you contacted them again?

We never even received that until AFTER we chased UKVI, beyond the 60-day limit. Same here - no further requests for evidence or information... nothing!

Yep! "... not straightforward" could mean literally anything - missing documents/evidence, complicated history...???
    EXACTLY!!!

We applied for the fiance visa.
I thought it was a very straight forward application. I've been to PH several times, she lived with me for 3 months in the UK. Finance, accommodation and everything else was provided in full. (both have no kids, never married)
One thing maybe is that we month travelled alot, even before we knew it each.

I have escalated many times, and get the usual 15 day. sometimes they reply with the default answer, sometimes i didnt get a reply at all.

I had exactly the same email received on day 74 for my daughter settlement visa application from UKVI saying not straightforward.

Just more evidence that the 'not straightforward' automated email reply could mean absolutely anything - or is now being used as a cover-up for their continued and escalating failures..

How long ago was that @virgolady? Have you had anything since then?

Well got this today 7 working days after complaining

your application is in the final stages of processing and been referred to an ECO for final checks before issuing the decision letter, is this a standard reply or are we getting somewhere?

'Looks' like progress... I have not seen, or heard anyone mention, that particular wording before!

When you say "... 7 working days after complaining" - did you make a formal complaint @wardy33? Do you think this is in response to you getting your MP involved (as you mentioned previously), or just a coincidence of timing?

They probably get at least a couple of ECOs to check it, in case the first one misses an opportunity to turn it down!:D

That's both interesting and puzzling... makes me wonder exactly what we have to do to illicit any kind of sensible response to an email?
