you may confusing the 6 months--thats the length of the fiancee visa. in other words--when she gets her visa--she can come to the UK for the 6 months ( from the visa start date )...and get married in that time. or go back if its all off !

at the end of the 6 month fiancee ( correctly termed settlement / marriage ) visa----she will need Further Leave to Remain ( FLR ) which extends the visa for a further 30 months. then--do it again.

however--thers no need to wait all the 6 months..she can apply for her FLR as soon as your married---it gets her a Biometric Residence Permit ( BRP )--which means you can shove her out to work and bring in some much needed dosh. like i did.:D:D:D

    Yep.

Bring her in on a Spouse visa... then put her to work to earn her keep. :D

I'm sure I read somewhere?... it's NOT ADVISED to apply for your 1st FLR(M) Visa (after you get married, during the period of the Fiance(e) Visa (FV)) MORE THAN 28 days BEFORE the expiry of the FV - in other words, whether you get married ASAP after the Applicant arrives on a FV (there are minimum time limits... For instance, you can't get married the day they arrive on British soil, so to speak! :D), or you get married during month 4 or 5 of the FV, it is not advised to send the 1st FLR(M) application until 28 days before the expiry of the FV

So realistcly before you apply for a fiancé visa...how long must you be together out of interest?

any chance you could locate the source of what you say ?

things might have changed over the last 2 years...but in our case my fiancee got her visa in feb 2016--was here within a few days. allowing for the legal notices, we got married on the 30th april. within 3 weeks we had applied for her 1st FLR--same day service in Croydon. she got her BRP a few days later. we did it this fast so she could start work ASAP.

her fiancee visa would have been valid till august.

i think you may possibly be confusing the 28 day rule with regards to spouse visa to FLR---and fiancee visa 1st FLR to 2nd FLR.:)

there is no time limit--minimum or maximum, as far as UKVI is concerned. for example--in our case--we got engaged, here in the UK on xmas day 2013, she went home jan 14, 2014. she applied for her visa dec 2015--nearly 2 years gap without seeing each other.

The rules say you can marry within 6 months of entering the day after you enter is within six months (perhaps churches
    and civel offices have guidelines
The 28 days does not apply to fiancé visas - that’s only for people on longer visas that have to spend a certain amount of time in the UK to qualify for their next visa

    You may be right, @bigmac...

I think I read about the '...recommended not more than 28 days before expiry of current Visa' in a Post on here, but maybe I missed the details of which Visa it related to, or it wasn't specified???

So, are you saying - for example - there is a difference in recommended timescales, between applying for Fiance(e) Visa (FV) to 1st FLR(M) & between 1st FLR(M) to 2nd FLR(M) or Spouse Visa (SV) to FLR(M) ?

The 28 day rule is for those on longer visas for example the 5 year route and it is used to establish the 60 month FLR timescale in bother FLR applications 1st and 2nd this is also why you cannot use time on a fiancee visa as part of the FLR period.
You also asked about marrying as soon as you arrive in the country the rules state
" you must marry within 6 months of arriving in the Uk"
The day after you arrive is within 6 months!

Hi Everyone!! Just a quick question. Do we need to pay at the VFS when applying for a Settlement Visa other than what we paid at the UKVI when we made an application?

most things are pre paid with the application. however there was a facility to pay vfs for "extras" like queue jumping and lounge service.

Hi All! Does anyone know what is the earliest date I can apply for a Fiancee Visa? Is the 3 month intended travel date rule still applicable the same as Tourist Visa? If it is, when I would start counting is it on the Date I have started filling out the online application or is it when I confirmed the date of appointment at VFS?

Yes the 3 month rule still applies. You count from the date of your intended travel. For example if you wish to travel on May 5, 2019 then the earliest you can apply is February 6, 2019.

Bear in mind, there are 'no guarantees' how long you will wait for a decision - regardless of whether you choose Standard or Priority application - or that you will get a positive outcome!
Also, as it's a Fiance(e) Visa (FV), you have 6 (calendar) months from the date the FV is issued to get married and get your 1st FLR(M) Visa application 'in'...
Particularly for a FV, it's risky to have any preconceived ideas of a timeline (e.g. We applied in mid-Feb. 2018 - expecting a result possibly in May - and provisionally intended to marry in Sept. 2018. We ended up getting our (thankfully, positive!) result in mid-August and got married in Jan. '19!)

As always you guys have an informative inputs. Thank you. @Brom27 I just have a clarification to the example you have given, that February 6, 2019 is that the date of your appointment at the VFS or is that the date when you start your application through visa4uk? Since their is a difference between the date of your application online compare to the actual date that you have chosen your appointment to VFS? @UKDJ We did a provisional booking at the Registrar to get married on August 31 2019 and booked the Venue too on that day. We are planning to apply for a Visa 3rd week of this month, just hoping that we get the result July the latest.

you also have to give notice at a designated register office as she is a foreign national. this may well not be register office you have provisionally booked.

dont rely on getting an answer in three months though. Also, you have to travel within 28 days of the visa start date

@bigmac when you said notice to the designated register. Is that 7 days after I have arrived in UK?

You can book an appointment for 4 weeks later after you have been in the country for 7 days
