Thanks everyone for there kind advice, I think I may be able to extend her stay from 3 months to the maximum of six months if she manages to get her visa, I have stated in my letter of invitation and by affidavit that I am able to support her financially even if a six month visa is granted and she has legitimate reasons for returning to the Philippines after her stay, hopefully with myself in tow, ready to make our life back in Ph, I will keep digging for information, thanks again to all you good people :)

she will have to prove compelling reason to return--job--family--home--bank account etc.

As has been said before the key requirements are provide compelling reasons to return and also evidence that she can support herself for duration of stay. Dropping large sum into bank account bit before her coming over isn't likely to cut it. Will need evidence over your ability to support her not just an invitation letter or an affidavit as unlikely to be able to hold you to that. I would think in terms of the evidence that underpins a spouse visa application.

Not sure on your marriage plans but if serious about it could look for a marriage visit visa as gives good reason for coming and if you are undecided on life together here or Philippines can argue that it is a trial run before final decision on where both if you will live.

My wife and stepchildren at time got marriage visit visa and visit visas so definitely possible. That said the evidence pack I supplied for that was effectively a dry run for spouse visa so had lot of evidence on savings and income available to support us. Know someone else who got refused a visit visa but managed to get one latter before fiance visa and one of factors for refusal was light on sponsor evidence of ability to support.

In terms of my wife returning I think we may have been bit light although we're able to show that we had rented house in Philippines which would be returning to but as said did get visit visas.

Possible to get visit visas just don't underestimate or assume anything and in fact assume worst case scenario and provide evidence to prove your position.

Hello, thank you so much to everyone who so kind hearted to help strangers in the visa process.

my question is, for fiancé or spouse visa, do you really need to submit a birth certificate? It is not in the mandatory requirements.

i understand it’s a definite requirement for children/minors and especially if they are a dependent of a parent applicant.

but for fiancé or spouse visa, it is not really relevant who your parent it right?

just want to ask if there is anyone here who submitted a fiance or spouse application without a birth certificate

Because mine got a typo error, my fathers name is typed Niguel in my birth certificate instead of Miguel. so i do not want to upload it if it’s not required

    thank you

My wife's surname now has a z at the end instead of an s like her mother's for the same reason. Your identity document will be your passport as people change their name but not their birth certificate. How did you get a passport with the correct spelling on it?

    Thank you for the reply.

Luckily, my name is correct in my birth certificate. The typo is with my father’s name, it’s Niguel instead of Miguel. And there’s no parents’s name in passport.

If I may ask, did your wife submitted her birth certificate with the typo error in the application? or you did not include birth certificate at all?

    thank you

Everything is consistently spelled wrongly, from birth certificate to passport so it wasn't a problem.

At the end of your application process the system will tell you what mandatory documents you must supply if it’s not requested in the mandatory then there is no need to supply.
The system then tells you you can supply further documents to support your application what documents you choose is down to you!
    Good Luck

Wow, this reply proves that birth certificate is not mandatory for fiance/spouse visa. Thank you.

I did submit my birth certificates in my 2 previous Visit visa applications (tourist) and both were approved. I’m just not sure if they are more strict this time with fiancé visa.

Hey guys can I ask. I've been in a ldr relationship for 1 year and looking to apply for the fiance visa for my filipina partner. We have only met twice over the year and I'm reading that we have had to have lived together for 2 years is this correct. Other websites state we have only have had to met only once face to face. Can you please help clear this up for me as I'm now very worried

    It's an EITHER/OR question -

    https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/partner-spouse

You must prove ONE of the options. I guess it's to cover couples who may have been living together in another country?

If you’re considering a civil partnership/living together without marriage then you have to have lived together for 2 years. If your planning to marry then you just have to prove that you have met, that you have a genuine relationship etc.

I got an email from vsf saying my partners passport is ready to collect and another email saying her application was processed on the 24th of January however I've not yet received an email regarding a decision. How long will this take?

Historically the passport had a letter with it saying what result was and if successful the passport had a vignette in it which was valid for a limited time to allow entry to UK where you pick up the BRP.

I remember having the same 10 months ago for the wife and it did not confirm the decision. The wife then got a phone call from Manila office to go and collect her passport and visa. A couple of hours later while she is sat in vfs waiting for her passport, I got another email confirming it had been granted.

Yeah I've been told they will email me the decision however they've not yet sent it which I find strange. I'm trying to be positive that they've not yet asked for additional documentation.

She is also currently unable to go to manila to collect her passport so I went onto vfs global and paid for a courier service to return her passport. I hope this works

if they have messaged you to say her passport is ready for collection then they don’t need any additional docs.

she can try ringing VFS, when they rang the wife she asked if her visa had been approved and they told her, yes it’s ready
