Yes, you will keep your old passport while waiting for your new one. Though the embassy will stamp the date when you processed it. Done passport renewal twice in the past.

Yes, I thought so. I am doubtful about what the officer told me, they seem so inconsistent. But I do hope ROM is enough.

    Thanks @Rephidim10
Can you please clarify what “the embassy will stamp the date when you processed it” means? :)

If I will have my new passport delivered to me, how will the embassy cancel my old passport when I get my new one?

If you're just near London, you can try to go there with your RoM. But if you're far, better make sure that you have the PSA docs. Check the note published by the Embassy fb page. It all depends on you. If you want to try your luck (without PSA docs), you can. Let us know if you're able to.

If you will give them a return envelope, they will just tell you to punch holes through it.

I don't want you wasting your time either. Submitted mine January. Transmittal/Dispatch date from DFA, April. It was only last week that PSA confirmed that it's already available in their system. Took me many follow ups (thru phone, emails and representatives going to branch).

Just another advice, don't request online. They have NO REFUND policy (whether they have your marriage registered in their system or not).

Hello @menchu_edge, have you received you PSA MC already. Wondering if you had the chance to renew your passport now.
Can I ask for the PSA contact details you used to follow up? I’d also like to ask them if they have received and registered my report of marriage in their system. Do they respond to email and phone call? Thank you :)

Yeah I got mine but still with my mom. No point of rushing now as my hubby doesn't have time off. I'm planning of renewing my passport and getting my national ID at the same time. I'm just waiting for the embassy to confirm the start of the registration (National ID).

You have to email DFA first and get the required details (Dispatch no., Reference no., Transmittal/dispatch date)

    records-director@oca.dfa.gov.ph

Once you have the details, you can check with PSA if they have already updated their system. It says in their website, you can call/email them 2 months after the transmittal date from DFA.

    Just stumbled on this thread...

What I've read so far is horrific! What if you should need to travel urgently - e.g. a bereavement - 6 or 7 months to get a passport renewed is ridiculous!!!
I'm not for one moment suggesting what anyone has said so far is wrong, but if you have been granted a Visa to get married in the UK and have your marriage certificate, but can't yet apply for a UK passport, why is it not sufficient to produce your marriage certificate to the Philippines Embassy to prove change of name?
    What am I missing?

If there's an emergency, you can travel with your current passport. I don't think you'll worry about changing your surname in your passport if there's really an emergency. You have to submit your Report of Marriage first. They have their own rules and procedures. It's taking long time coz the Embassy is sending the docs (birth, marriage, etc except passports) to DFA quarterly only. And from DFA, docs will be transmitted to PSA. Then the PSA has to update their system.

@Roseanne J and @Rephidim10 mentioned last time that an Embassy personnel told them that it's ok to change the surname with Report of Marriage alone (no need for PSA docs). I don't know if it's true. A friend went back and forth 4x just to renew hers. Last year, you could change your surname at the same time of the submission of the Report of Marriage.

Thanks for your reply @menchu_edge :)

I misunderstood your post, I thought you meant I can check the PSA website to see if my mc is already available. Spent some time browsing through their website but I couldn’t find where to inquire about my mc haha! My bad I should’ve known PSA better lol

Is she going to change her surname? If yes, will take time. If no, will be easy.

She will need her PSA birth cert. I've attached the photos sent by a friend given by the Embassy Officer.

Also just to make sure, tell your wife to bring Phil Gov't issued ID and a photocopy.

Yes I did, apparently my RoM is still sitting with the Phil Embassy, not been transmitted yet. So yes, its at least 6 mos before I can get my PSA mc.

That's the problem. Takes time for them to send to DFA.

Is there anyone who tried renewing recently with RoM alone, @Rephidim10 ?
